I just finished rewatching all of Lovely Complex within the last few days
HAVE I MENTIONED HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS ANIME? God. Even though the majority of the series revolves around Risa, I just love how each of the characters is so loveable. (Even Seiko-chan! And I hated her when I first saw this! AND UMIBOZU, GOSH. YOU FABULOUS RAPPER, YOU.) And for a shoujo series... it's actually kind of realistic in describing the ups and downs relationships, as animes go. I was actually watching part of it while Andres was working on the fence and when he started watching it with me, he was actually amazed at how good it was. And their CLOTHES. What is it with this anime and the CLOTHES. I want their school uniforms, I want Risa's outfits... GOSH. All the clothes in this anime are so nice on the eyes. The live-action movie... not so much, but the movie is really good too. It's a lot crazier than the anime, but at least Koizumi doesn't cry EVERY OTHER SCENE and Otani is less of an idiot. He's still an idiot though.
Also, Osaka-ben. Teehee. An ENTIRE Osaka-ben cast, sans the "foreigners". I love the sound of the Kansai dialect, to me (as a person who speaks a "country"-esque dialect/language as well) it's so easy on the ears.
Probably going to devour the manga in a bit, but after I start on my linguistic anthropology essay...
