I think I was hasty in my assumption that Water is the recipient of the entire album.
Prelim Notes: These are assumptions, but I feel they are grounded. It should have clicked with when I heard "All The Things She Said" in the Air path... this song is being sung by Air to Fire. Incidentally, Post's label for this song is "All The Things She Said."
perfect by nature
icons of self indulgence
just what we all need
more lies about a world that
never was and never will be
have you no shame don't you see me
you know you've got everybody fooled
Air saw something in Fire that wasn't right, something that wasn't real. I don't know what it was that Fire was lying to air about, maybe it was just that everything she was, everything she seemed to be was a mask, all false. I haven't figured it out yet.
look here she comes now
bow down and stare in wonder
oh how we love you
no flaws when you're pretending
but now i know she
never was and never will be
you don't know how you've betrayed me
and somehow you've got everybody fooled
This seems to support my previous conclusion... but I'm still not sure of the exact circumstances. I'd like to relook at this when I have more to work with. I'm not sure how much more of a chance I'll have though.
without the mask where will you hide
can't find yourself lost in your lie
i know the truth now
i know who you are
and i don't love you anymore
More support for the general conclusions above. This song is very emotionally specific, but I'm having trouble matching it to a specific event. It should pair up. It has to. Otherwise, where does it come from...?
it never was and never will be
you're not real and you can't save me
somehow now you're everybody's fool
Here I notice the reptition of the theme of things being unreal, or less specifically, not real. It's hard to believe that this is a coincidence, as it appears in Track 18 (Total Eclipse of the Heart/Bring Me To Life) and Track 4 (Don't Speak/Imaginary.) I'm sure it appears elsewhere too...
I have something to take care of now. More later...
