Whitechapel head canon

I've been obsessing over Whitechapel for a while now, and have about fifteen fics in my WiP folder. Whitechapel is a show with a somewhat limited canon, a result of which being that I've constructed a fairly elaborate head canon. You'll find elements of this in all my fics, I think, but on this list I’ve redacted the pieces that might spoil fics I hope to post in the future*g* More to come as I think of it

Chandler
- His father died when Joe was nine. (We know Joe was young, but not the exact age) Based on the way the commander talks about how he promised Chandler Sr. he'd take care of Joe, I'm thinking he was either killed on the line, with Anderson there to hear his last words, or he died of prolonged illness. I'm going with cancer, because I’m too lazy to research anything else
- His mother died right before Joe was to take his final A-levels. Cause of death redacted until I find out if I can finish A Friend in Need.
- There's family money. In copious amounts. (We know this from the show, of course, but I'm talking to the extent that Joe, if so inclined, could take up a jetsetting life, never work again, and still leave a hefty inheritance when he clocked out.)
-He self-identifies as “just not that interested in that sort of thing”, or, when he is forced to actually think and put words to it, “more or less asexual”, though in technical terms he's basically demisexual, he just hasn't been in enough serious relationships to fully figure that out. He has had a few partners in the past (both genders) with whom he’s had some form of sexual experience (specifically, he’s had intercourse with a woman (singular), had oral sex performed on him by partners of both genders, performed and been given manual stimulation by partners of both genders, and been “on the receiving end” of anal intercourse (it wasn’t entirely consensual, and he didn’t enjoy it).), but to the extent that he's been in relationships, they have mainly been without a sexual component. He's been cheated on by two boyfriends who said they could deal with an asexual relationship, but clearly couldn't
Kent:
- Shares his flat with four others: Phil, Deenah, Jo (girl) and Sal. Phil and Deenah (or Dee) are dating and share the big bedroom (they also pay a larger portion of the rent for the exclusive use of smallest bathroom), Deenah moved in after their second date five years ago. Jo was the only girl in the flat when Deenah moved in, but Sal is the most recent move-in, the fourth person to occupy the smallest room (affectionately termed "the cupboard under the stairs" in a Harry Potter-homage) since Kent, Phil, Jo and Jemima, the original fourth, first rented the place seven years ago. Phil and Jo are both civil servants, Sal is an accountant with an NGO, and Deenah is a graduate student. Kent and Phil grew up together, Phil and Jo and Jemima all went to uni together
- He grew up in a stable home, has an older sister.
- He's bisexual, but leaning more and more towards gay as he's getting older.
Miles:
- Boys are named Liam, David and James, aged (as of the end of series 3) 15, 13 and 11
