For my personal reference. Also, anyone who's also Type A about grades and wants to nerd it up commiserate with me.
I just got the final grade for last quarter's Native women class. You know, the one where my super-kind professor gave me an extension on the final paper because I was sick? Her father passed away and she's been away for the first part of the quarter, so she just now got the chance to read my paper.
I got a 4.0. That brings my cumulative GPA to exactly 3.96. This year's requirement for summa cum laude is 3.96.
This is, like, the meanest way to tease a Type A student. XO
So, because I'm the biggest nerd who ever nerded, I calculated what grades I would have to get this quarter in order to graduate summa cum laude. Since I only have two 5-credit classes that are graded (as opposed to credit/no credit), I need to get at least a 3.9 in each. I think that's possible, especially because I've gotten good grades from these professors before; but that was in previous quarters when my senioritis wasn't so bad. (One of these classes is the one with the 10-page research paper that I, er, have barely started. >_>)
Here's what the school website says: "For students graduating in spring, the honors listed in the commencement program, as well as honor cord distribution, are based upon a student's cumulative GPA as of the winter quarter, since spring grades are not available for this determination. Spring classes are ultimately included in the credit totals and GPA calculations for honors posted to the student's final record." So technically, right now I'd be eligible to have an honor cord if I were in Commencement (though I'm only attending departmental graduation ceremonies, so I don't know if that applies). Beyond that, though, I guess I just have to bite my nails and wait. :P
