In the wake of the disaster, it makes me feel good to see people and businesses reaching out to assist our citizens. Albeit it is good PR for the corporations, some good is coming out of it.
What I do find distasteful is the looting that is still going on. People who feel that they are owed these items since no one is around to stop them. In my mind right now I am recalling this mornings image of a person using a baseball bat to break a glass door. That in itself is unacceptable. What people should be doing is coordinating efforts to clean up their city, work on food and shelter, rather than looting and pillaging. We are supposedly in the 21st century, but it feels like the Dark Ages.
As I sit here reflecting on what I have just written I am reminded of a quote from Gandhi… "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
