(WSBT) WSBT News has learned a soldier from Rochester was killed in Iraq. We have very few details right now, but a family member is confirming the death of Rochester native Nick Patterson, a 2001 graduate of Rochester Community High School.
Rochester High School principal Dan Ronk told WSBT News Patterson played baseball and basketball.
We're not sure when or how he was killed. We know at least 7 U.S. servicemen died Monday in Iraq in a vehicle accident. There's no word yet if Patterson was involved in that crash.

Please keep Nick's wife and son in your prayers. I went to school with Nick...I cheered for him on the basketball team, my good friend dated him, he was my cousins best friend. This news has hit me really hard. It's the first soldier killed that I knew...that I went to school with.
