I got stung by a yellowjacket (which I just learned is part of the wasp family) at about 11:30 this morning and now, eleven hours later, the damn thing hasn't stopped hurting. I don't get it, the last time I got stung by a bee it hurt for about five minutes and then I got on with my day. Maybe I'm developing an allergy. I hear it's something that developes over time, the more you get stung. That would be no fun, what with the possibilities of death and epipens.

Or maybe the yellowjacket was just seeking revenge for being the only animal on earth I fear and don't like, after a tramadic incident when I was six.

And I can't even make silver lining jokes about superpowers because there already was a superherione named the wasp and she was the lamest superchick ever - her only ability was to get super tiny and buzz annoyingly in men's ears, like wow they're really stretching the metaphor there, and she spent most of her time putting on lipstick.

In other random news I'm typing this in the big classroom I teach in, in my dark and deserted work portion of the preserve and I'm hearing weird sounds, like maybe someone is over here, and I've been so trained by scary movies I can't shout out a hello, because that always leads to death and carnage.

I'm going back to my haunted house now.
