Retooling Rapunzel

The Princess and the Frog didn't fail because the title was 'too girly', it failed because it wasn't a good film. I wanted to like it, and the art was beautiful, but it just wasn't on par. Also, this is just sad about the Rapunzel changes--let's keep telling girls that it's ok to like 'boy things' and keep telling boys that liking 'girl things' is a fate worse than death.

Why do studios think that boys/men are the make-it-or-break-it box office influence? Didn't we just see the Best Picture oscar go to a movie (and a woman director!) that refused studio notes?
