Frankenstein, Capitals, and overall Busy-ness

I saw Benedict as the monster at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC in March, and was blown away. My review skills are minimal, and others have done it much more justice than I could. They are showing both versions this Saturday (one at 2 pm and one at 8). I understand that DVD's of these performances are not usually produced (I would be thrilled to be proven wrong), so I ponied up the funds so that my daughter accioayla and I will be doing the grand tour as it were.

Only one little, tiny, glitch in my plans. The Caps (local hockey team) didn't manage to crush the Rangers on Sunday, necessitating a Game 5. Why a problem you ask? The Verizon Center is across the street form the Shakespeare Theatre and the game starts at 3. This doesn't sound like that much since we could go down extra early and miss the rusk. But! I have partial season tickets! My son will be there! We had tentative plans for a nice leisurely dinner between showings, but now I am already feeling the magnetic draw to drift across the street at 4ish to see the game at a sports bar. I have some hope that we might be able to get together with snycock and vamysteryfan for a somewhat longer chat, but my obsession might get on the way. Maybe I can arrange to have home phone me whenever there is a change in score.

It also appears that I update this lj about yearly. I have been commenting more frequently at least. Since it looks like I am almost in the swing of this retirement thing, I think a little more frequency is called for! But right now I have a pot of chili on the stove (good game watching food) and I need to get the Caps scarf I am machine embroidering for the son finished so off I go!
