Semester Abroad - launching a Gosling

Jun 26, 2007 09:42

ARGH! Gosling#2 flys out of BWI at 2:45 - he wants to leave the house at 11. Small problem - we can't wait with him once he goes through security. Last night he was vibrating with nerves/anticipation/'what have I forgotten?' I'M twitching, but trying to do the mental checklist thing. So far we have managed to remember to pack shoes. I've noticed his rugby scrum cap sitting on the floor - I think me means to take that too. He had some extra weight available so he is taking Frankenstein, the cobbled together laptop in addition to his regular one. I still don't really understand why he needs both.

I'm up, had coffee, trash/recycle on curb, dishes running, and now need to consider waking him up. No idea when he crashed. Yes being tired is good with a trip like this so that he sleeps his way across the Pacific. I don't think I will reach stage 1 relaxation until he calls that he is boarding Air New Zealand in LA. Then I will know he has made all of the first connections. Apparently this flight is full of Austra-Learn students, so it may be one big party. With most if not all of them able to drink.

EDIT: he's up, been out to get last items (I hope) and is finalizing everything. sister will be back from work at 11 so we can all go together. Gack - my baby is fying halfway around the world!
