Today it's nice out. I'm off work today. I think I'll go skateboarding today...if only I could find a place to go skating at. Maybe I should dig my running shoes and sweats out of my closet and just go jogging a few miles like the good old days. *sigh*...I miss running track in highschool.
Reminds me of Ashley. If only I had stayed ont he team my senior year. Then things might've been different. Well I guess nearly ALL of you exception of hanh, whom I don't think even reads this anymore, have no clue what happened. So I'll tell ya. My freshmen year I went out for tracka nd field...I don't remember why I did. But I liked going to practice. I wanted to be fast so I tried really hard at practice. The coach ended up making me run the 800m dash (half a mile roughly). I never was that fast (not for track and field, yeah I was considered fast in every other sport I played though) but I never gave up when I ran and I had lots of stamina [honestly I think I was just as fit as everyone else that first year...but I just didn't give up.]. So we had a good coach first year.
Secound year we had our same coach and everythign was great you know. But he got a job offer to a bigger school and ended up leaving. I don't blame him. Also 2nd year I met this girl, JoAnn. She was pretty cool. I didn't like her or anything, she was just a good friend of mine that's about it.
So Junior year comes and we get this coach who knows nothing about track and field. He's never ran before, he's never coached before. His dad is an assistant coach at some lame highschool. So He's asking me alot of questions about what to do during practice and what not to do. So basically I was coaching during Junior year. It was pretty fun. He started getting the hang of things by the end of the year and started to read up on things and so on.
Senior year one day during wrestling I met this girl from the middle school who was a few grades behing because she flunked 2nd grade or something crazy like that, I don't remember. But she was pretty cool. Her name was Ashley. Anyway I decided to stop wrestling because the coach wanted me to stay at 135lbs and I was growing to 145lbs. Staying at a low weight made me dehydrated. And I couldn't run as well, I would tired out alot faster than normal. so I just had to stop wrestling because I was more into tracka dn field. So I didn't see Ashley too much. But she went out for track that year and the middle school track team practiced with the highschool team also. So I saw her there alot too. But then I got kicked off the team one day. The coach kicked my friend Frank off the team for being slow. Frank tried and he wasn't even that slow, really the coach just didn't like frank for some reason. So I said I wasn't going to run until he put frank back on the team and I got kicked off. So I didn't see Ashley too much after that. I ran in a few open meets though and played alot of indoor soccer.
Next thing that happened was skateboarding. I had started to skate alot and I saw Ashley arround here and there skating too. But then my dad decided to move. So after school I'd always end up having to go home...sure there was a nice skatepark int he town I lived in, but Ashley wasn't there.
Then a few weeks before I graduated I was talking to JoAnn. I looked at her and thought to myself . o O ( she looks like Ashley ). So I asked if she had a sister named Ashley. She was like yeah and said that her sister skated and ran track and wrestled and so on. So I asked if Ashley had a boyfriend and JoAnn said that just recently some guy asked her out....Now I felt really really stupid.
Next is the worst part. I moved back into town. Then my sibs kicked me out of the house. Then I moved back into town again. I had spent alot of time out of Oberlin. So when I come back I finally decided to ask Ashley out and she told me that she didn't even really know me that well.....I was really sad then. I still am a little downed about the whole thing. If I had never quit wrestling, never been kicked off the track team, never moved, etc. etc. things would be different. And that whole beign shy thing didn't help too much either. I wish I could just forget about it all, but I don't want to ever forget about her. I just really wish things would've been different.
