Well I just bought my tax disc online - marvellous. One of the best inventions ever. For me to buy a tax disc via the Post Office means either
tags2k having to come home at lunchtime to let the dog out, me finishing work early, or having to go on a Saturday morning. In all cases it measn queueing for a good hour. Not fun. The online thingy took 15 seconds and most of that was waiting for it to verify stuff.
The dog showed his displeasure today by eating both the hallway rug and the rug under the dining table - so both of those are for the bin. I can't really blame him though. His bowl was in the middle of the hallway rug pieces. I may have forgotten to feed him yesterday. Its stupidly easy to do with a dog who only eats kibble when necessary, and so we tend to just top up his bowl as and when rather than have specific meal times. This may have to change.
Finally bowing to peer pressure from work, home and you lot, I made another emergency appointment with the dentist. It has to be said mainly because I finished the antibiotics yesterday and my tooth started twinging. Of course it didn't hurt even a little bit from the moment I made the appointment to the moment I got out of the dentists chair and has been aching ever since. The upshot is no more antibiotics - two courses is enough said the dentist. He would have pulled those teeth today only he was concerned with me getting an infection in the sockets (argh) before going on holiday and he couldn't give me antibiotics to ward that off. So, its a case of wait and see until Thursday/Friday. If its bad then he will have no choice but to pull the teeth, but if I can eke it out til September he would prefer it. He did point out that he couldn't see where the pain was coming from because apart from their wobblyness these teeth looked pretty good with no decay or inflammation. Of course. I felt mean about possibly wasting his time, but not so mean as I had sat and waited for an hour to see him (some mix up as I was on the reception list but not on the list in the dentists room).
We are off on our annual week away (without Emma) next week. We missed last year because of
tags2k's mum not being well so I am looking forward to this so much it almost hurts. We have planned a possible open mike night on the Tuesday but nothing else at all. The plan is to have no plan and to go where and when our stomach takes us. Fortunately we have been to the 'Dam twice before and so have no great need to sightsee but we have a huge need for the least amount of stress/most amount of relaxation as possible. I see lots of croissants, Ben & Jerry's, earl grey tea, reading, mooching and the odd beer in my immediate future.
