Yesterday was the yearly Octobertournament in Eindhoven.
Regarding equipment, I had worked out the tidy logistic scheme of 1 - Wednesday: Go to Utrecht, train. 2 - Thursday: Go back to Amsterdam, wash. Take equipment back to Utrecht, have lessons, dump equipment at T's. 3 - Friday: Go to Amsterdam, dump school stuff at home, work, go to T's. 4 - Saturday: Be at Jaarbeursplein at 8:00, get in someone's car, go to Eindhoven. V. neat. Especially since there were no trains (well barely any) between Amsterdam and Utrecht on Saturday - maintenance.
And it all worked. Unfortunately, somewhere between 3 and 4, I seem to have misplaced my wallet. I had it at work at 20:00 Friday, did not have it in Eindhoven at 9:15 Saturday. And I'd swear that I didn't do anything unusual with it.
OMGWTFBBQ? Are the gods conspiring against me? It's been barely three weeks since I lost my cell phone and one since I got a new one thank you very much! Called work, not there. Didn't bother to call T because I knew he wouldn't be home, but working. Sent him text to beg him to look for it when he did come home.
For the record, my wallet contains: a) money b) stamps c) bank cards d) NO credit cards thank god e) stampable bus ticket f) train discount card g) membership card of A'dam sports centre i) ID card j) driver's license, which incidentally means that it's the second time this year that I've lost my license. Which I placed in my wallet rather than in a separate holder so I wouldn't lose it so easily. Everyone please notice the irony here. *glares at Gods of Irony*
Sigh.
Anyway, tournament. It was crowded, but of course there were as many as eight contestants on ladies' epee so we had mixed poules with the men, which makes for good fencing but crappy results. Fenced against
radonir twice, was beaten twice beh. Didn't fight
pagopeggy as she had entered the foil contest, but I'm positive she fenced against at least one of the members of my club. (And to make this list complete, I did not get to meet with
lise_lise or H. Again. As seems to be our tradition.)
Ended up... dunno... fourth or fifth on the unmixed tableau-8, beat first opponent, got beaten by second opponent, then fenced B-finals. Got 3-5 behind, made 4-5. End of first period. Enter round of coups doubles 5-6. 6-7. 8-9. Then, 9-9. End of second period. Enter second round of coups doubles, up to 12-12. Got 14-12 in front, one point left to make and dead arm from the weight of the epee (it was nearing the end of the day and I had been holding the thing in an outstretched arm for eight not-straight minutes. Yes, I know it's only 750 grammes. Try it). 14-13 aargh. 14-14 AARGH. 24 seconds left. And finally, after a whole match of seeing my opponent twirl her epee in such a way that I could just not place my tip behind her guard and on her wrist or hand, I managed to do just that. 15-14 OMG*dead*. So, third place. Which is good.
After this, we also cheered on another club member (we had come with nearly fifteen people, two of which referees, which made for quite a crowd) to the third place in ladies' foil. And boy did we make noise! Fun!
Went back to Utrecht after this, had pancakes in a restaurant with a group of eleven. We made half of a plan to go and see The Legend of Zorro. Well the question "Who wants to come along and see TLoZ?" was asked and everyone raised their hands.
After this, belatedly realised that I couldn't go anywhere without wallet, so had to wait until T got home because I, like the non-clinging girl that I am, had given him back his set of keys after he'd given them to me for use on Friday. Unfortunately, T went and had dinner with his colleagues. Stayed at R's (bless the dear boy) until T would text me that he was going home, which turned out to be at 1 a.m. gah. Fortunately it's rediculously warm for this time of year so the bike ride was actually quit nice - except that I naturally was pretty tired at that point. Long story short, wallet wasn't there. Grumble.
And, to make this story complete, when I went home today the tracks were still undergoing maintenance, so instead of taking a direct, fast train from Utrecht - A'dam Amstel, I had to take a slow train (which stops at every possible station) over Hilversum, only to get to Duivendrecht, where I had to take the metro. Unfortuntaly, due to the same maintenance, the direct metro from Duivendrecht to my stop didn't go so had to take the 50 from the wrong platform (again, maintenance) to the next stop, then get into the 53 which finally got me home.
All this with luggage. My left shoulder hurts in every which way possible and then some.
So I cancelled on a birthday in Rotterdam I was supposed to go to, and my parents. Just. Not. Up for it.
*done rambling*
And now, for the mandatory time wasting, from
twirlynoodle:
Maleficent
You scored 39 evilness!
You are almost demonic. You have class and prestige. People call you 'Your Excellency' simply because of your power. You rely too much on your henchmen, though. Your biggest blunder is your many, but careless henchmen, "a disgrace to the forces of evil" as you put it. When your troupe of henchmen fail, you rely on yet another henchman. You will only put yourself out at the very end when you absolutely have to. Your ego is enormous. You tend to frighten or impede your foe, but rarely actually attack. You love dramatic entrances and exits and work with such a gorgeous artistic flair that your foes are actually in awe of you. Your wardrobe and living quarters are ostentatious, but strangely beautiful.
My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:
You scored higher than 93% on evilness
