A thousand apologies for disappearing for a billion years. I do still live!!!
Basically I've fallen in love with my job. The job I got because my sister is the general manager of the company; a job that was supposed to only be a stop gap until I got a job in publishing. But I really, really love it. My team is awesome, it's challenging and varied. It lets me be creative without sapping my joy for writing. My daily work varies from managing and proofreading advertisements, to writing cafe reviews, to creating a whole website for Asia, to managing our involvement in trade shows. I was in Melbourne for two of the past three weekends for events we were involved in (the Hilton South Wharf is such a gorgeous hotel); it was exhausting and stressful but I kicked ass.
Of course there are moments of freaking out. Like right now when I checked my emails from home to discover the web designer sent the Chinese translation of our new website live without notifying me and apparently the translation is all wrong. Crap. But I'm not falling into a ball of panic about this stuff anymore. It sucks, but it's not my fault. I didn't authorise the designer to send the website live and so tomorrow we will hide it and fix it and everything will be better.
It helps that the pay certainly does not suck. Though I seem to be spending most of it on things I really shouldn't be buying. Like a new Review dress. But isn't it a pretty dress???
I promise to be around more often from now on...
