Yay! My book came! I ordered 44 Scotland Street by Alexander McCall Smith off of The Book Depository last Friday and it arrived today. Cost only $15. Bargain. Unfortunately I cannot read it until I have finished my rereading of the seven Harry Potters but I started the sixth one tonight so suspect I'll be starting it next week sometime.
My credit card arrived as well today. It's a lovely pearl colour. Must only use it responsibly! It was bedlam trying to activate it though. It appears I called during the peak time so was on hold for ten minutes, which wouldn't have been frustrating except every 7-12 seconds (yes I timed it) they interrupted the serene music with "We know your time is important, we will be with you shortly" or ads for various products. I'd have been happy to disengage my brain and simply drift off with the music. Eventually I think I was shunted to their call centre in India where I got a very androgynous sounding assistant who tried to sell me everything under the sun and then wanted detailed explanations for why I was turning down aforementioned offers. In the end I said that I had just gotten home from work, was quite hungry and not at all prepared to sit and say "Uhuh, yep, okay" any longer and just wanted to activate my credit card.
I've had a terrible mouth ulcer for a week now. My sister recommended a gel to put on it and I bought some today before work. I wish she had warned me how much it bloody hurts when the gel is first applied. It feels like I'm poking myself in the mouth with a razor sharp stick. I also didn't realise how potent the stuff is. The shock of the pain caused me to get a fair bit in my mouth and I ended up numbing half my tongue and my lips. I was talking with a lisp for twenty minutes.
Im meeting Rach for coffee tomorrow before seeing the Homeopath. I'm feeling rather nervous and I hope that she can reassure me that I'm not going to make a fool of myself and that it won't be a waste of my time and money.
