more 2010 year in review

I honestly don't remember much about July, but I think we were busy at work. The 4th was the usual fun, barbeque, family fireworks, a blast. Then sometime in July or early August came the news that I believe I wrote about at the time in my journal, Muse cancelled their K.C. and St. Louis shows. I was completely devastated. I had been look so forward to seeing them at Sprint Center it wasn't even funny. But I believe that everything happens for a reason, and what happened was, I couldn't let it go. I had only been a casual Muse fan before this happened. I only owned two of their albums, the most recent one and the one before which is what turned me onto them in the first place. The more the cancellation ate at my soul, the more into them I became, I started looking up videos on youtube and that just about ended my life. Before, I didn't know what I was missing. When I saw videos of their shows I was beside myself. At the time they cancelled, I briefly entertained the idea of going to Oklahoma or Minnesota to see them. Now I wish I had and it was much too late when I realized that. I was sure they'd reschedule us. It didn't happen, and now I'm the only Muse fan in the world who didn't see the Resistance tour. In August I decided since I couldn't see them, I would buy stuff from their store. I bought three shirts and a poster. I was delighted when they came in. This and the videos on youtube satisfied me for a while. Then in November I decided I needed more of their music. I realized each album was as good if not better than the one before it, not one of them was bad. I was elated and did all my Christmas shopping running around with Muse blasting in my car. I had begun to notice that a lot of the videos I liked were professionally shot and from the same show. This is how I found out about HAARP. Well, the concert video anyway. I had known about the scientific experiment that gives conspiracy theorists wet dreams for years, as I am a devoted watcher of the Coast to Coast AM website, although a skeptical one. It arrived the night I got home from watching Tron: Legacy with my friends. Even though it was very late, I watched half of the video, singing every song at the top of my lungs, and watched the second half the next day. I was on cloud nine. Since then I've listened to almost nothing at work except Muse. I'm learning all the words to all their songs. My love for them grows every day. I feel like I did when I was a teenager discovering a new band...except now I've got money and vacation time. When they do finally make it back to this part of the world, I'll be ready. And I swear on all that is holy, I will go to every show within a one-day-drive radius of Kansas City.
