Wow it's been a long couple of years. Last weekend I had nightmares about not getting to vote. So I decided to go first thing in the morning. Told them at work I might be late because they were calling for long lines at the polls. The bummer is, when I first moved into this house I found out that my polling place was the church right across the street. They changed that this year, so now it's several blocks down at the IBEW union hall. The interesting thing about that is my grandpa was a union electrician and since my family lived closest to the union hall he gave us his card so that we could go swimming at the swimming pool. I spent all the summers of my childhood at that pool, mostly because mom would abandon us there when we were old enough! LOL So I went, had to stand in a short line, had to vote using a paper ballot, very weird, but was so hopeful as the machine sucked in my ballot. Finally had a sense of calm about the future of the country for the first time in a long time. Anyway, I didn't watch the results shows, didn't stay up late, didn't want to get my hopes up as they had been dashed in the past two elections. This morning I got up and turned on my tv and finally heard the news. Barack Obama has a chance to be one of this nation's greatest presidents ever. Okay Mr. Obama, we got you in, now show us what you can do.
