Sydney, here I come ...

Last post from the USA, for a few weeks. I hope UAL treats me well enroute (and maybe I'll even get some sleep).

During the week before I left Incline, I upgraded my main E-mail server, cesium.clock.org from a Sun SPARCstation 20 (150 MHz HyperSPARC, 512MB of RAM), to a Sun Fire V120 (650 MHz UltraSPARC IIe, 2GB of RAM), and NetBSD 3.1_STABLE. The old system was crashing under load frequently (almost every other day), and more than half the time it got stuck flushing the disk cache, and wouldn't reboot without human intervention at the console. So far, the new system hasn't crashed, is vastly faster, and the newer software has helped with the spam problem somewhat.

I'm going to read RFC 4408 (sender policy framework, a cheap anti-spam thing) on the plane, and decide whether to add those records to the clock.org DNS.

And they've just called boarding ...
