These Docs Are Made For Walking

Wingnut was given quite a few French-themed gifts when he got his Ph.D., including two guides with walks of Paris. We did part of a walk on Sunday, starting way up north at Parc de la Villette, which is where the abbatoirs were for a hundred years, and going south.

After an hour, it felt like we'd been walking for ages but that was because the city changes its face every few streets. We'd seen so many different things in that short time, from flirtations with 70's architecture (even the French couldn't get that right) to villa-lined cobblestone streets to a cat-haunted sunken graveyard.

At one of my favourite parks, Parc des Buttes Chaumont, we discovered Pelouses Electroniques. That means "electronic" as in music and "lawn" as in grass. As was evident to our noses by the time we were halfway up the hill.

The DJs were really good and loads of people were dancing. They'll be there for a couple of Sundays yet. Hurray for Paris and its free events.

out and about, paris
