The Yes to AV crowd got a right
drubbing in Thursday's referendum. I didn't hold out much hope for electoral reform but didn't expect such a poor result. I should have, considering the poor campaign for this poor version of proportional representation. My support for the Liberal Democrats had already waned and this pretty much finishes it, I don't see the use of them any more.
Diamond Geezer has a nice little post on
London's results, showing how out of step London is with the rest of the country. Six of the ten districts that voted "yes" were in London. My borough of Tower Hamlets wasn't one of them, but did come within 5%. The borough further distinguished itself by having the third lowest turnout in the country: 29%.
