Sort of Dutch Food in London

A friend is visiting London from Madrid and picked the My Old Dutch pancake house in Holborn as a meeting point for dinner last night. Will the karmic revenge for making clanwilliam go to alt.fan.pratchett meets in the Irish pub in Leiden never end?

Thanks to Thomas Zahr, I'd actually been there before, during an afpmeet that was held for him across the road. So I was ready to enjoy the perfectly nice pancakes while ignoring the lack of authenticity.

However, when it was time for dessert, we were faced with a poffertjes shocker. These fat mini-pancakes have been served with butter and icing sugar since time immemorial. Here, they were served with butter but there was an abomination lurking in a pot in the middle. Maple syrup! Clearly an offence against the natural order, etc., etc.

Okay, they were kinda nice and there was the added excitement of trying not to lose one's poffertje in the communal dipping bowl, but still.
