The wave, caused by an 8.3 quake near Samoa, is expected to be a metre or less. In other words, only very low lying areas might have a problem. So far, only people on Great Barrier Island and Waiheke are being asked to move to higher ground. The rest of NZ might have to miss a couple of hours at the beach.
