It's lovely in here!
Great story, darling, and such a nice surprise. This paragraph, especially, is ace: Later, hidden in the quiet shroud of the night he will contemplate the bittersweet irony of that particular moment as it twists and turns, settling into a tight ball deep in his gut. Like a thief with his hand in the till, he’s been caught out by Mistress Fate, totally prepared to kill in cold blood with no qualm or conscience blurring the slim line between right and wrong. If it wasn’t so serious, he’d laugh; it’d be the very same crime that saw him wrongfully accused, convicted and sentenced to death via the electric chair just a few short months back.

I was actually quite nervous about posting this because, well you know, it's been AGES since I wrote anything, lol. Still, it felt good to get on that metaphorical bike again, so to speak. I can still do it! *g*
Appreciate your feedback more than I can say, lovely. Thanks. xx

Anyway, great to see this fic, especially these characters from the "forgotten" season. I always find that I like fanfic Lincoln better than the "real" version, and I don't know if I've ever seen Krantz (complete with reptilion eyes!) take front stage in a fic before. Great job, great read, Sarah! Any more sitting around on the hard drive?

You are right in thinking this is set before the brothers (and I really like your explanation of Lincoln's parentage, so I think I'll go with that from now on!)find out that Christina is still alive.
My biggest grievance about Season 4 was how the Lincoln in my head bore little or no resemblance to the Lincoln we saw on screen, so this fic was my way of reconciling the two to help ease my fangirl muse. *g*
Glad you enjoyed it and thankyou so much for saying so. I've missed the writing process a LOT. And funny that you mention it, but I do have a couple more fics yet to post so might try and take the opportunity while I'm still in 'holiday mode' and polish those up too. *hugs*

OMG, you have no idea how much I miss Lincoln. Last night I pulled out some old fic of mine just to see him again.
This is just beautiful, Sarah. I'm always in awe of your prose. So good.
One little item of beta-ness:
The point is mute because for Lincoln, Fox River feels like a hundred years ago now.
You mean MOOT, not mute. *g*
I love that he wants to kill him, but it's not until his mother is mentioned that he loses it--this IS Lincoln. Please see early S2 when Brad Bellick makes a comment about his mother and he goes ballistic. So great.
Thanks for sharing with us!

Oh, Candy! I have missed Lincoln heaps too... looking over this again after so long brought it all back. Your icon isn't helping, either, lol!
I'm thrilled this touched a chord within you - you've always been my measure when it comes to Lincoln characterisation in my writing. *g*
You mean MOOT, not mute. *g*
Thankyou! You're quite right. It's fixed now. *g*
Thanks for the lovely words, darling. Really appreciate them xx

Loved this particularly:
Every fibre in Lincoln’s body is screaming for him to react, to still the torrent of filth spewing forth from its vile origin but he can’t stop the words from reaching their target, piercing, tearing; leaving damage in their wake.
No. “I’m warning you.”
And YES to him reacting that way when his mother was mentioned. Thanks Sarah. i hope this is part of your NY resolution, bb.

The stuff between Lincoln and CrocFeatures was always great muse fodder for me in Season 4 - I usually found myself wondering about how Lincoln processed all of this 'new' information that seemed to keep popping up (TPTB sudden rewriting of canon, included!).
Thanks for dropping by and leaving your lovely words, hon. Glad you liked it. I certainly enjoyed writing it! x

*glares at S4 character assassination of Lincoln*
THIS is more like it!
I like how you describe things, I really do. This fic adds depth to Linc that I desperately wanted to see especially as the PB came to a close, because how hard is it to devote a bit of time for that to one of the main characters of the series, huh, writers? *shakes head* It was like rushing, rushing, rushing without going anywhere.
Anyway, like the others I would love to read more fic from you. I've always admired people who are able to write Linc because he intimidates me so much, so this was a lovely treat!

Thanks, Nona! I'd had this for quite some time and only recently over the break decided to finish it; I have been quite humbled by its reception! *g*
As you know, I have a very large soft spot for Lincoln -- MY Lincoln, as my muse has always thought of him -- and so this is kind of like my homage to him and how I wished he could have been portrayed by TPTB, especially in Season 4! *glares at them too*
Truly grateful for your kind words, thankyou very much, darling. :)
