And now that Castiel has seen the full force of Sam's power and how easily he took Alastair down (something that Castiel himself couldn't do) I wonder what the heck he's going do!
OMG, YES! You could see he was *almost* thinking that maybe they'd picked the wrong brother to work on Alastair; Sam seemed to to handle the situation in seconds and barely broke a sweat! He has really progressed in leaps and bounds with this newfound power but I am waiting for the other shoe to drop and Sam to find out what it's going to cost him, and/or Dean, as Pamela warned him.
Castiel, on the other hand, now finds himself in a bit of a quandry - he knows Sam is very strong force to be reckoned with now. I thought Castiel looked a little afraid of him at the moment of Alastair's death, too - and possibly also of what Sam could do in the future, if he doesn't want to follow the same course of action as him.
You make a good point about the Bromance - I am clinging to the idea of that to save the day - right from the start they have had this as the solid basis of their relationship, so it makes sense that this will see them through, in the end. *fingers crossed*
Personally, I thought this ep was as hard to watch as Dean's going to Hell (and that just killed me). I was so devastated watching him die inside, bit by bit, as Alastair revelled in sticking the psychological knife in; he wasn't as tough as his Dad in Hell, lasting only 30 years and not 100, his failure to withstand the torture meant the first seal was broken and the Apocalypse will be all because of him, and his relationship with Sam is at an almost all-time low, with Sam's new BFF being a demon. If he ever finds out about Sam sucking her blood it might push him past the point of no return! Waaaaaaa!!
We're going to be a very emotionally drained bunch of fangirls by the end of the season, methinks. Thank God we can share stuff here!
