Tripping Around the Country
I just spent the last few days down in our Newcastle office. We are looking at taking over a business based there and I had to go look at thier computers and some custom systems they have developed.
They were understandably paranoid, the former parent company made a hash of trying to sell the business, so we are getting it for a bargin. It has just meant that the guys in our Newcastle office have been running around like mad trying to get something together, and to talk to the existing customers to keep the work.
Overall it has gone well, we managed to keep most of the employees and customers. Only a few have defected to the opposition. Now all we have to do is grow the business and make it profitable!
So for the past few days I have been inventoring thier systems and trying to work out their custom software. And in my few spare moments I visited a few coal mines (existing clients to sort out some issues) and talk to the guys in our office, some of who I haven't even met even though they have worked for us for 4 years!
I will probably end up flying back down in a week or two to help move the computers and set everything up in the new office.
