Jobzorz 2 : The reckoning!

Apr 11, 2007 19:49

Roger's didn't call all week. We'd been having a spot of trouble with the mobile phone and Jesse got a new one so I was hoping that maybe I'd just missed their call. We spent the Easter weekend in Squamish which was really lovely (as always!) but when we got back on Monday I popped in to speak with the manager Vinnie. I told him I was just checking in to see about the job I'd been interviewed last week because I'd wanted to make sure I hadn't missed their call or anything like that. He told me, no, they'd made the calls last week like they'd planned and if you didn't get one, you didn't get a job.

Excuse me? Does anyone else think that's rude? If people travel to and from your store and spend 30 minutes answering your questions, don't you think it would only be polite to spend 30 seconds of your time and 20 odd cents to call them and gently let them off tenterhooks? Or is it just me?

I know it sounds sour grapes but I do honestly think it's rude. My understanding of the way these things worked was you only get a call if they want to interview you, but after the interview you get a call which ever way it went. (heck, the university found the time to tell me twice I didn't get the job for those who remember that story!)

So I took a job at Suzannes on Tuesday. Suzanne's is a very nice clothing store in the Hillside Mall, which is about 20 minutes walk from here. They sell women's clothing for a variety of ages, young and old, and I get a 50% discount. A good thing, too, seeing as I am expected to wear mostly their clothes. My training shifts are as follows:
Thursday : 12 to 3
Friday : 12 to 4
Saturday : 3 to 6

As far as the new mobile phone goes, we've been having trouble with the voicemail. So whomever left us a message this morning, we are really, really sorry but we can't retrieve it at the moment. Please call us back. ^_^

And that's about all in my exciting life. ;) Hope you all had a good Easter!
