Mini-movie review: Tangled

In keeping with my policy of seeing movies ages after everyone else already has, I just watched Tangled - thanks, Netflix, it's been a while since I last saw your lovely red envelopes in my mailbox ( Read more... )

Isn't it great? I just saw it last month.

And the decision to have the animals not speak was a marvelous one, which I hope later Disney movies will emulate. I agree 100% about Mushu (Mooshu? However they spelled it), and the gargoyles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and uh basically 95% of all animal sidekicks ever. (I do not count the Little Mermaid, because they were such a vast proportion of the speaking characters, but one could fairly do so anyway. I imprinted on that movie too young to mind.)

It's true, I'm so much more cheerful about the animal sidekicks when they're not chatting it up. And no, The Little Mermaid doesn't count. Really, I'm just still grumpy at the whole Mooshu (I don't know how they did spell it, actually) over-the-top hamming.

My sister told me to watch How To Train Your Dragon as well, so it's next on the Netflix queue!
