I'm supposed to be writing job application narrative statements this weekend, so--um, prompt me for commentfic with which I can bribe myself one-fic-one-statement?
I will probably work best off of prompts in the form of "The scene where blah blah blah happens."

He gets his boots off and lets himself fall backward onto the covers, soft and cool under his head, his feet still dangling down to the floor, and--he eels up the bed so he's lying flat on the ridiculously wide surface, approximately four thousand times bigger than his bed in Atlantis. He got used to turning over very carefully in the night, to his feet hanging over the end of the bed. Atlantis has its charms, but there's something to be said for this enormous bed.
The sheets are hotel-crisp when he crawls between them; the pillow smells clean, smells like Earth, and John grins and stretches out as far as he can, searching for the edge of the bed and not finding it, like he's making a snow angel.
He's splayed out like a starfish and dead asleep when Rodney knocks on his door before dinner. "Mmmph," he says, rubs his face, and gets up to let Rodney in while he puts his shoes back on.
Rodney eyes the disarray. "What, were you building a fort?" he says, but John's still in love with his mattress the size of a small state.
"Think they could beam it straight up to the Daedalus for me?" John says, and flumps onto his back again.
Rodney raises his eyebrows. "Shall I leave you two alone for a while?" he says, and John kicks him without moving too much, at which Rodney launches himself onto the mattress, creating a nearly imperceptible shockwave in the beautiful, beautiful bed.
Rodney lets out a sigh; John says, "See?" and they lie there, staring at the ceiling, until they hear the firm knock on the door that is Teyla.

He needs furniture that his feet do not hang off of. See also: chair, control.
In my head what happens next is that Teyla comes in and lies down, just to see what the fuss is about, since she's been out all afternoon while John was napping, and then Ronon comes after the three of them, and . . . well. They have to order dinner up.
