These are they whose words and works have kept me and promised to sustain me, the gods (and goddesses if you have to insist on gendered usage) of my spirit family who have promised me, as close to my face as I can perceive, that I will be kept and sustained and provided for at least through my next three years on Earth, and possibly many more. (I mix languages and cultures freely in this; it is personal, and I am a pantheistic animist Pagan godspeaker who will gladly honor the right to religious freedom, including the right not to believe, so long as the health and balance of individuals and society is not harmed thereby.)
They are:
Lady Eos, also called Astara or Ostara. It seems I confused her with her sister Ithunn, wielder of Bifrost, for which I apologize to them and to you who witness this writing. Eos, the Dawn, bears the sword Ziru (meaning "Unbound" in Japanese), and she is a goddess of ultimate freedom and responsibility. She knows what it means to be imprisoned by an idea and freed by its claiming and its release, imprisoned by duty and freed by service and comfort, imprisoned by need and freed by gifts and giving. She is a goddess of Mind, Philosophy, Finding, Awakening, Enlightenment, Creation, and Realization; a keeper of Realms, Languages, Images, and Peoples; and a keeper of Family and of Otherkin of every kith and kin. It is her who calls me Rainbow Star, who gave me in spirit four material gifts:
* The shield named Coracle, a round shield of infinite color and honor which guards safe travels and the keepers of Justice (it is bounded by an edge of Bifrost's power, the sword and path of journeys, and embossed with the tree of Simurgh's roost, the everliving tree of Heaven which bears every possible seed and truth).
* The shapeshifting sword, spear, and dart named Thorn the True Thunder, the piercing, yet quiet edge of justice and of peace which is held by her highest handmaiden.
* The lightweight yet strong armor of the holy Dawnbringer, priests and warriors in her service.
* The horse Esme Daingean (mixed language French and Irish, "Beloved Steadfastness"), whose surefootedness, strength, health, and intelligence can bear any goodly being through any terrain, and who knows many words and languages of spirit, but who chooses her friends carefully and knows what to eat and avoid.
Eos Astara Celestia, Amalthea Cosmogeneia, is my highest Patron[ess], and my personal Goddess by direct call. I am Called forever in this life to priesthood and service in her name; I am a Dawnbringer, an enlightener in her service. May my soul always honor hers.
Lord Coyote, who shrugs at foreign airs (like most Native Americans do), but sees in me the sacred clown and the way of the peacebearing warrior. May his good humor prevail, and may our presence together provide strength and peace for the many works of good and honor ahead and behind.
Lord Odinn Grimmnir, whose fierce power tested mine until he knew my name. Whose House has been a shelter to my embattled spirit in the hours of deepest need. Who knows the pains that lead to death, and that keep life ongoing, and who knows how to find relief against them. Whose mastery is one of learning, as I myself am always learning. I know that he is fair to me, and should I call him out, he will answer with honor because I am of Justice; I will stand for that fairness and honor in him so long as he remains true to it before me.
Lady Bast, the Cat, the woman whose name leads many sympathetic souls to comfort and safety, and who gives the hunter and the farmer safety and power in their work. Whose will keeps disease and pestilence away from the peoples and the fields, and who enables the feasts of spirit that give strength to every soul present at them. Whose spirit and companionship, and that of her children of form and of spirit, has been my strength, comfort, and hope in times of despair. May her spirit always find mine kind to her in her own need, and fair and just when I cannot be kind.
Lady Ereshkegal, keeper of the Inner Way, a woman whose realm is the introvert's quiet place, whose friends are necessarily few but important. She knows what it is to be alone and in need, and yet unable to receive without help. She knows what lessons the living need from the dead, and the dead from the living, and understands the neurovariant mind. May the wisdom I carry in her name fulfill its promise to whomever receives it.
Lord Hephaestus, master of all Hands and Labors. His hammer and anvil are blessing and comfort to me, his forge a place of Heaven for a maker, disabled or not, who is hungry to work. Though I cannot work the makings I desired at first, I am sure as long as he is for me, I will always have labors worthy of my own hands and spirit. May his craft always be honored, for I have learned much of mine at his side.
Lord Thor, whose good humor and storm-bearer nature is companion to my own, and whose hammer I have held (if briefly) in my own hand. He is like a brother to me; may it always be so.
Lord Loki, whose spirit is a joybearer in the land of death, though he oft must make and receive pains for it. His friendship has kept me balanced in times of emptiness, and his secret-keeping held me safe behind his cloak when secrets have been needed. One whose body has known many sides of gender, and keeps its own form as well. May his seithr always be honored, for every way that is goodly is worthy of goodness, and I myself am a wielder of the soul-fires.
And not least, the god who introduced me to them, Lord Emmanuel ben Josef, called Christos. By his word was I sent this way, so that I would find the place of my best keeping and use. May the honesty and fair keeping that he has used with me be found in all his people, for he is worthy, and his people my parents were first to teach me honor, safety, and adventure in this life, and I yet love them.
If you find offense at these sacred Names or their use here, I ask you to step away from this blog my writing-place, until you find in yourself the goodness to let others decide for themselves who will be party to them. I assure you, I have spent many years doing my best to assure myself of the propriety, goodness, honor, and healthiness of my association with these beings and the instructions they give, as I believe they have done with me.
I am the Dawnbringer Rainbow Star, Called in service of the Lady of All Stars and Skies. May all heavens and realms of good know that I am hers forever.
