When: April 7th evening
Where: Starts at the lobby of the apartments, end…who knows?
Summary: Gintoki meets Shinji in an attempt to understand and control his inner Hollow. Hilarity most likely to ensue.

Gintoki headed down as soon as he prepared himself, pausing to glance at the fading bloodstains on his walls. Even though everything had already been over... the memories could not fade. It had only been a week since everything, and sure as hell there was not a lot of people who would be willing to forgive him. He was still worried about Zura, and Hijikata (his Hijikata) had not even made any contact yet ever since then...

He's alright. I'm sure he'll be alright, the samurai assured himself as he went down the stairs, mindful not to make too much noise and disturb the... eggs. Really, those things were getting annoying. What were those owls thinking anyway? A health project ( ... )

Shinji heard the light footfalls of the boy he was due to meet, hands in his pockets as he continued staring into the distance. He didn't turn his head to face Gintoki and instead let him make the first approach. He wasn't really sure what to expect, after all ( ... )

The (former) samurai followed behind quickly and quietly, Toyako (his wooden bokuto-cum-zanpaktou) falling at his side as well, and his head still hung rather low as he thought about what would happen. Knowing Shinji from the manga, it really wouldn't be anything pretty at all... but he had to do this. For Hijikata, if not for himself. As well as for everyone else. Although hearing him saying about his hair was pretty... refreshing?

"I think most of them prefer me to being dead or tortured," the man replied blandly, "Like Okita and Ogichi-kun," the nickname for the other Hijikata (that is, the Hijikata of Okita's) fell out of his lips before he could stop himself. It was a habit, after all. "Whatever you'd want to do to me can't be worse than that... or my fight with Sh--- it, I guess," he stopped himself from uttering the name he'd thought he had never wanted again.

Shiroyasha. The name of his hollow.

How fittingly iconic.

Shinji slowed slightly as he listened to Gintoki speak, the names washing over him without so much as registering, until he heard the boy falter ( ... )

On the outside, the hollow had, of course, completely taken over the unconscious samurai. The body got up, half-formed hollow mask covering its face as the wooden bokuto held on the hand glowed once, flaring with blinding white light as it shattered to reveal the metallic blade of Hakukaze - the zanpaktou of the hollow within. The beast's eyes flared a bright, crimson red before it launched itself towards Shinji, mindless grin upon its face as the sword was brought down towards the elder vaizard in a wide arc with inhumane strength.

Gintoki gritted his teeth as he clashed with his other half once more, eyes burning with silver light as his blade ground hard against the metallic blade that was Hakukaze. The hollow looked oddly impassive, unlike the list time where it had been screaming and shouting and cackling like a madman. This the samurai already found odd by itself. What the heck was happening, anyway? Didn't he already fight it just barely a few days ago?! Why so fast for round two already?!

"That's a good question, really," ( ... )

Shinji had to grin. He was a little excited, despite it all, to be having a fight like this. Addrenline always got him bad when he was in a situation like this. Just like Ichigo.

He launched himself with the same amount of force towards the Hollow, meeting his heavy strike with one of his own, cackling through his mask as the swords ground against each other before being repelled, Shinji's chest rising and falling as his heart pounded madly. Damn, this guy was strong.

He didn't want to let up this time, or the creature might get bored, and then he'd go find some more entertainment. This was Shinji's duty, now.

He jumped up into the air, twisting to build momentum and aim a hard strike towards the hollow's head, eyes flaring as he unleashed all the strength he could into the blow.

'Come on, Gin-kun,' he thought at the back of his mind, the part not clouded with the joy of a fight, 'I know ya can beat this freak.'

"You know what I've told you - don't think ya can be some shonen hero, Gin-chan; you're already a killer through and through."

"But that was to protect people! My friends! My comrades!" Gintoki snarled back as he edged back the clashing blades back towards the hollow. The pale-skinned latter only grinned viciously once more before it twisted the blade to grind them once more in a flurry of sparks. The man twirled his bokuto quickly and lunged it towards the other, who quickly whipped his blade about and caused them to clash loudly yet again. "I had to kill for their sake!"

"And you got yourself addicted to the kill, Gin-chan!" the hollow screamed back with maniacal insanity as Hakukaze flashed once and sent a burst of reiatsu that caused the human to fly back. Gintoki plunged Toyako into the earth, using the momentum to spin around and fly back towards the hollow, bokuto pulled out into another lunge as the man continued to face his inner demon for a second time ( ... )
