Watari was really very glad that Gren's medical treatment was beginning to work out, for a variety of reasons. Naturally, first and foremost was his concern with the other man's well-being, but he wasn't going to deny that it also made him happy to have more time for unrelated experiments. Fun and exciting ones! Unpredictable ones! Ones that occasionally left him coughing up clouds of blue butterflies for hours!
He looked thoughtfully at the phial of viscous purple liquid in his right hand, and down to the dish of little yellow granules in his left.
Now, this was science at its finest! Two compounds he'd found naturally occurring in Sieben that didn't exist anywhere else...He had his hypothesis about what effect they'd have on each other, naturally, but hypothesizing meant nothing until you got results!
He checked the barrier he'd set up down the middle of the room. Didn't look like Gren had touched it...Good!
"There might be a little noise in a moment," he called to his roommate cheerfully.
Then he dripped a bit of the liquid onto the granules, and everything on his side of the barrier exploded.
Ha, he'd known it!
