After an evening's worth of dressing and primping, and no small amount of wringing his hands at the thought of leaving the baby alone with a babysitter for the night, Kazuki was nearly ready to leave for the dance, but he still could not stop himself from pausing for a moment in front of the mirror before he left the bathroom, wondering for about the hundredth time if this was such a good idea.

What it came down to though was that the babysitter was reputable, Toshiki had insisted, and... when was the last time they'd had an evening to themselves anyway? Taking one last deep breath, and tucking a stray strand of hair behind his ear, he finally turned, emerged from the room he'd barricaded himself into for most of the night, and turned the corner into the living room where Toshiki was waiting for him.

Toshiki wasn't nearly as concerned about their evening out as Kazuki was. The babysitter would take care of things, and they could enjoy themselves. He'd donned his usual work clothes--or rather, the clothes he pretended he wore for work--and was waiting Kazuki to emerge from the bathroom.

He couldn't help but smile when he finally did. "You look good," he commented, crossing the room to take his arm. "We should get going."

"Was I worth the wait then?" The words were playful, but Kazuki smiled at the compliment, nodding as he moved to thread his arm through Toshiki's. "You're right. We should. That took longer than I was expecting..."

"You always are," he replied, leaning in to drop a light kiss on Kazuki's cheek as he lead him out the door, towards the motorcycle that was parked at the curb. He hoped it wouldn't ruin the dress... well, it wasn't going to be a long ride, anyway. "It only took that long because you kept fussing at the babysitter."

Hakkai had taken the initiative when it came to the dance... he wanted to be there, involved with the community, doing what he could to do his part. He wasn't holding his breath on the rest of his family following suit, though.

He smiled when he saw Watari at the door... he'd really done so much to organize this, despite his circumstances.

"Everything looks so lovely," he commented with a smile as he reached the door. "It really was a wonderful idea to do this. You must have worked very hard."

Smiling right back, Watari waved Hakkai in through the door. "Thank you," he said, grateful to have his work acknowledged. "But you know, it hardly seems like work when you have a good reason to be doing it!"

He noticed that Hakkai had come alone, and wondered about it. "Will the rest of your family be joining us tonight, or are you getting some time away from them?"

"Ah, that's true, I suppose," Hakkai replied with a little laugh. "We're all keeping you and your young man in our thoughts... I'm sure he'll be home safe before you know it."

He shook his head slightly. "I decided to leave that up to them. The boys need to learn a little independence eventually... I can't hover over their shoulders forever."
