"I'll be sure to keep that in mind then," Gintoki laughed out weakly, coughing a little at the action. The battle really had got him good this time... even if he wasn't so gravely injured, exhaustion hurt a lot more than anything else. Although at least after this, he'd finally be able to get a well-deserved sleep - and hopefully, without any nightmares.

The freelancer was a little more than surprised at the delicate touch, enough to cause him to twitch a little involuntarily and making his wolf ears press flat against his skull. The wolf side of him was a little riled up at the invasion of his personal space but Gintoki quickly subdued those instincts which were pretty dulled for now. Gintoki was quiet as Hijikata tended to the wounds on his torso, his brain sluggish enough to not make any clever words to speak (he'd be smacked for it anyway, and the freelancer really didn't want that to happen) and only remained silent as the man attended to his wounds.

"You're really good at this..." murmured the silver-haired man, obviously still rather surprised by this whole thing.

"Don't laugh," Hijikata scolded. He hated the sound of coughing, even now. It reminded him of being very small, very vulnerable, very helpless to stop fate, and very alone. Thirty years old now, and still carrying the scars, even though his parents were long dead and Souji was safe now...pitiful.

He smirked a little, mostly for show, at the obvious displays of discomfort from Gintoki's wolf side. The presence of other male wolves and dogs was still pretty irritating to him when they didn't show proper submissiveness. Gintoki was more of a loner, but that didn't mean he'd be happy with Hijikata doing as he pleased in his own little territory.

The compliment surprised him a little. Scoffing, he pulled out the bandages, found an uninjured point to hold them against to begin with, and began wrapping them snugly around Gintoki. "It's just practice," he grunted.

Gintoki only chuckled weakly once more, the action causing him to cough a little again before he stopped with a slight childish grin playing on his face. "Hai hai, Hijikata-kun... you're acting like my mother-in-law or something with all that nagging that you do," he joked lightly once more. Well, it seemed that his sense of humor was still there, at least. As annoying as it was for others.

Still, as annoyed as the wolf side of him was at the invasion of personal space, Gintoki still managed to keep his senses in check, suppressing them well enough. At least for him, he had no true affliction to whatever pack that was around here; he was a loner, had no allegiance to anyone or anything - his 'territory', if one could call that was limited to his room, his personal space, Toshirou and Zura and the others considered close to him. Toshizou, though... Gintoki really couldn't place him. He was someone that could set his senses on high alert, but still trusted him enough with things. It was an odd relationship between them - one of mutual discomfort and of grudging respect towards each other.

"You must have a lot of practice then," the freelancer remarked simply as he grunted a little while the bandages were wrapped around his injuries. The wounds were stinging a little, but that wasn't going to make the yorozuya go yelping or anything - he was sure Ogichi wouldn't be too amused by his actions then. Instead he only hissed a little and winced, tail going stiff and ears still flat against his skull.

He wasn't bothered by Gintoki's words, but Hijikata rolled his eyes. "You can put up with the 'nagging', or you can keep on bleeding everywhere," he sniped, though he knew he wouldn't just leave the man who'd taken care of his people when he couldn't and helped him kill Kuro, even when it nearly cost him his life. Not unless he got exceptionally annoying, at any rate.

Gintoki's display of pain as the bandages were wrapped was obvious--he could smell it, layered underneath the blood and sweat and spiking upwards now and then. Rolling his eyes, Hijikata smoothed out the section he'd wrapped already and kept going. "Keep still," he muttered. Flinching wasn't going to make this any easier, and reacting like that to pain was shameful for a man as strong as Gintoki.

"I think I'll want as much blood as possible in my body," Gintoki replied with another quiet chuckle, no bouts of coughing coming from him this time around. He didn't hate or loathe this (or any of the other) Hijikatas, really - the freelancer always found them all somewhat amusing in their own ways; his own more amusing (and likable, for obvious reasons) especially. Even if they were different in their own ways they were pretty much similar in the bottom line which Gintoki could somewhat see. None of the Hijikatas would leave people who didn;t deserve it in the church.

Gintoki grunted again, ears still flat against his skull and he bit for a while on his bottom lip to control himself. No matter what anyone might say, he always hated the pain most - it was really very annoying. "It's not like I'm trying," the yorozuya grumbled back before he winced as another sharp jolt of pain came through. Hey, its not like he had to act all manly and stuff like that - he just came back from a battle of life and death, a JUMP-worthy one after all! He could just flinch a little like all shounen heroes did, right? Right?
