Along with that strange feeling of something being not-quite-right, Goku also got a strange feeling that the town looked different somehow- however he brushed that off as well and continued on after Ginpachi. "Ahhh, so you did suck huh? Well... drive, huh?" Goku stared at the ground as he walked in thought. "I guess.. I could try putting a little more into it.." He sighed, almost finished with the bag of candy. "Maybe if it was about something more fun, like candy!" the monkey gave a sagely nod and wadded up the empty candy bag, now trash. Apparently he missed the teacher's moment of awkward.

It looked like they were now heading closer towards the forest, and Goku nearly skipped along by Gin as they approached it. "Nooo problem! I can sens eout that tree, easy! Let's see, hummm..." The monkey sniffed at the air, the tail behind him twitching as he picked up many delicous scents. "...Awwww man it all smells so good," he drooled, staring at the trees just on the outskirts. "Hmmm, ice cream tree, ice cream tree..." He began to wander forward, to venture into the woods for the treats.

Gintoki could only do nothing but laugh rather nervously again, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. "Well... it doesn't hurt to try now, does it? Ahahaha..." Yes, he was feeling really awkward right now with these kind of questions. Granted, he wasn't the best but still... it was kind of embarrassing in the end when he was discussing about these sort of things. Then there was another chuckle at the next remark. "Well, I'm not too sure if classes can be as fun as candy now, kiddo..."

He smiled a little to himself at the sight of Goku skipping towards the forest, obviously drooling at the scent of the tasty treats. Gintoki laughed as he only gently tugged the kid by his monkey tail. "Now now Goku, control yourself or there'll be nothing left fo everyone else now," he said with great amusement as he went to keep the kid's endless hunger in check.

Goku trotted into the forest happily, weaving between the trees at first, before making a leap upwards. Catching onto a branch, he swung himself about it before leaping to the next tree, catching branches and swinging as he went- just like a monkey. Sniffing at the air again, he would occasionally switch directions, trying to find the right direction they should go in. "Hey, Ginpachi-sensei, does the ice cream tree have lotsa flavors? Are there other trees with more flavors?" he asked, his stomach growling in anticipation despite his having just demolished a bag of candy. "'cuz that would be so cool! Or maybe a toppings tree... I wonder if I could make a sundae?"

Looking back to the teacher, the monkey gave a grin, and then he got an idea as he continued hopping easily through the trees... Waiting til Ginpachi looked away for a moment, he suddenly vanished.

He watched as the monkey leaped onto the trees and couldn't help but chuckle a little yet again. Honestly, you would have expected no less... Gintoki scratched his head at the question, trying to summon up back his memories when he had been turned into a nine-year-old - that was the first and last time he had went to the tree after all. "Well, the tree I know has all sorts of flavors on them, but I guess there might be other trees with different ones too, you never know." Sieben was such an unexpected place, after all.

The man looked at Goku swinging in the canopy for a while more before he glanced sideways for a bit, wondering if Shiroi might be around... would make things all the more fun and entertaining, possibly. He smiled a little, turning back to call out to the kid - and then paused when he realized that the youngster was suddenly gone from his sight.

Quickly the man started to call out, hoping that he wasn't attacked by some wild beast. "Oy, kid! Come on now, wherever you are!"

For a moment or two the trees were silent, showing no signs of someone else following Gin any longer. Soon enough though there was a barely audible rustle in a tree just above his head, and from the tree all of a sudden leapt the monkey with an handful of fruits, landing himself on Gin's shoulders before pouncing off again into a tree just ahead. "Hahahah, fooled ya!" He grinned, some fruits dropping along the way in his haste, not being careful whatsoever. Using his tail to cling to the branches ahead, he gulped a few fruits down and waited for the teacher to catch up.

"Ooooh~ so they're all different, huh?" The monkey asked, sticking a peach in his mouth and finally leaving his hands free to swing through the trees. "Huh, I was wondering why some of these fruits tasted kinda funky. One o' those berries kinda tasted like an old shoe." He made a face, swinging ahead some more before waiting again. Suddenly, he perked up. "Ah! I smell 'em!" He grinned, looking around, before changing direction again. "I smell iiiiice creeeaaaaaaam~!" He sang running through the forest, hurrying ahead of Ginpachi.

Just as Gintoki started to really panic, he jumped a bit again as Goku came from above him, leaping from his shoulders and towards the trees again, fruits littering the forest grounds in his trail. The man laughed a bit as he started to chase after the hyperactive boy, wolf tail swishing a little in contentment. "Oy oy, wait up now for me kiddo..." he went with a smile as he caught up to the monkey boy, "I'm not as energetic as you are now, yanno."

He laughed again at what Goku said next, "Ahahaha... yeah, the fruits usually taste rather different, not really like how they should be..." best not to ask why was that, really - most likely due to the owls anyway. The man only started to chase after the kid again as the monkey boy ran towards the general direction (or at least as much as he could remember) of the ice-cream tree, calling aloud to him. "Hey, wait for me now, kiddo! The ice-cream won't run away any time soon now...!" Although despite himself, Gintoki was all smiles and sunshine as he went after the energetic child into the forest.

"Hahaha, Gin-sensei, you should catch up or you'll get left behind!" The monkey laughed, stopping momentarily to let Gin catch up a little again while hanging from a tree branch by his tail, snacking on a peach. "Mmm, this peach tastes like chicken!" The apeboy seemed very pleased at such a discovery, despite that msot people probably would have found that to be a less than satisfactory result. After snarfing down the peach and leaving the pit behind in the grass, the monkey continued swinging along until, lo and behold there sat the tree filled with the fruits of its labor- numerous, multi-flavored and colored ice cream cones, all ripe to be plucked out of the leafy branches. Goku came to a halt upon one such branch, looking at all the cones ready to be picked but seemingly unable to decide which one (or ones) to take. "Haha, found it! Lesse... hmmmm~"

"Maybe you should learn to slow down now!" Gintoki retorted back with a grin as he caught up with the hyperactive monkey boy, laughing at the remark. "Ahahaha... surprising, eh?" the man chuckled out. It was interesting at times at the flavors that the fruits gave - almost an endless variety, really. He chased after the kid again as the youngster started on his way once more. After a few minutes of going after the kid, he finally could stop as they stumbled upon their destination - the ice-cream tree.

Gintoki smiled and chuckled at the kid's reaction to the discovery. "Well, take your time in choosing - they won't melt until you pick them out," he said as he himself easily reached out and grabbed a cone with strawberry ice-cream, grinning before starting to relish the fine treat. Strawberry was always the best after all.

"Slow down? Never!" Goku grinned to his teacher, plopping down on the more solid trunk of a branch and letting his legs dangle down. "Ahhhh, man I just can't choose.." he mumbled almost in a depressed manner, as the inner moral dilemma of which ice cream flavor to choose had him looking very serious for a moment. "Hmmm... chocolate is awesome, but cotton candy's good too, and mint chocolate chip is tasty too... Hrmmm..." The monkey looked around at the branches about him, tail twitching in concentration before he huffed and looked up to Gin. "Hey, can't I just.. have a couple, maybe?" He asked, giving his best and brightest "innocent" smile. "I mean, there's plenty here, soooo..."

Gintoki only smiled as he watched the kid and his current dilemma, all the while quietly enjoying his own strawberry ice-cream as his own wolf tail swayed absentmindedly behind him. It really was rather cute in a way, seeing the youngster now all so engrossed in this usually small situation. If he could, the man would have considered Goku to be the younger brother he could never have.

He blinked at the next question, still smiling although he did sigh a little at the look he was getting from the monkey boy - oh, why did he have to look like that? His own heart couldn't resist that look...

"Well..." the natural perm started, running a hand through his hair,"...not more than three, promise me now and you can have them, okay? There're other people who want them as well."

With a cheer, Goku began to sniff around the tree, trying to find the exact flavors he wanted. "Hmmmm.. ummm.. lesse..." He leps to one branch; plucked a cone. He lept to another near the top; plucked another. Finally, he made one more round about the tree, just to make sure, before finally picking a last cone. Hopping down to one of the lowest branches, Goku sat on the thickest part and settled himself, starting on one of the cones, which he would make quick work of within minutes. Suffice to say he seemed to be enjoying himself.

"Hey teach, can I ask ya sumthin'... kinda crazy?" The monkey asked after a moment or two of ice cream-devouring silence. For some reason, he couldn't shake the feeling he was having that things weren't quite always this way- and also a feeling that soemthing important was missing.

Smiling again at the sight of the energetic youngster, Gintoki himself settled down at the base of the tree, still slowly enjoying his ice-cream as Goku worked on his in record time as usual. The man looked upwards through the canopy, quietly enjoying the passing breeze as sunlight filtered through the mysterious canopy of the ice-cream tree.

Again, Gintoki blinked at the monkey's voice, looking up to face the boy sitting above him. "Well, its not like I've never been in the insane myself," he joked lightly, although the statement did hole its merit... somewhat. "Feel free to ask what's on your mind, kid. I'll try to answer them the best I can."

Goku paused a moment before making his inquiry, wondering how to word it without sounding like he'd gone completely nuts. ".. For some reason today I feel like.. I'm forgettin' something, ya know? Like maybe.. like something important has changed. But I don't see or notice anything wrong when I look around me!" He turned to look at the teacher below him, while stuffing the last of his first ice cream cone in his mouth and starting on the next. "It's like, when ya wake up from a dream and you remember something.. but you can't remember it all, at the same time, you know what I mean?"

Goku looked like he was thinking rather hard on this, as he licked at his second cone. "And also... I feel like there's some one important that I'm forgetting. But I can't remember anything about 'em. Well, there's one thing I guess.." he trailed off.

The freelancer could only listen quietly to Goku as he spoke, finishing up the last bits of his ice-cream as the youngster spoke in a very deep train of thought. Of course, Gintoki did know what the boy was saying - none of this was real now, after all (maybe except the forest). But the man really didn't know how to phrase it himself either - not to mention that at any rate, all of this would be over by the end of the week...

He paused though at the next one. Someone important...? Why would the owls... oh. Maybe because whoever that was wasn't here? Well, that sure was one surefire way to solve that kind of problem. Gintoki finished up his ice-cream, sighing as he leaned back against the tree trunk and looking up into the multicolored sky. "Well... from what I think, its best not to think so hard into things - makes everything so much more complicated, yeah?" the natural perm went, "Just live through everyday like you always do, and see what the next day holds for ya. That's all I can say."
