The freelancer only chuckled slightly at the youngster - ah, if only he could have been a child again; as troubling as his childhood was, those were the days after all... Gintoki's warm smile continued to stick on his face, true and sincere as he patted the kid on the head once more before withdrawing his hand. "Ahahaha... no, not really. Just make sure your pranks don't hurt people next time, alright?" Well, he was in some form of trouble. What with a none-too gentle chide from Sebastian and a somewhat stern warning (was it even a warning? Gintoki could never tell) from that vice-principal about his teaching habits, it was obvious that his laid-back style was the cause of great discussion. The natural perm never really paid any mind though - in the end, this wasn't really real after all...

He grinned slightly at the next remark as he watched the monkey boy making himself comfortable at the desk. "Again now? No wonder your results are always like that..." came the quiet chuckle from Gintoki before he replied. "Ah, they're about the same as always... you know, kids enjoying their life as it is..." the man shrugged. He was never really one to like enforcing himself on the children - it took away the fun in them, after all.

"Anyway, as I promised," he went, reaching into his drawer and fishing out a bag of multi-flavored sweets he'd just picked a few days earlier from the forest, "your candy. The ice-cream we'll have to go into the forest to search later, alright?" He finished as he tossed the treats for the youngster to catch.

Hanging over the back of a chair, Goku frowned slightly. "Well.. didn't mean to hurt anybody- though, 'guess I gotta remember to be careful who I pull stuff on; shoudn't have pulled that on the blind guy, that's just mean." With a sigh, he kicked his legs along the side of the chair, apparnetly blissfully unaware of the fact that all of this was a big illusionary mind screw cooked up by omnipotent owls.

"Whaaa? Whaddaya mean, my results? I do good enough on your tests, right?" the monkey gave a defensive pout. "At least, Hakkai says I should work harder.. but..." he stopped kicking his legs for a moment. "But I really dunno, it just doesn't make sense to me sometimes. I guess I'm just kinda learning-dumb or something," he mumbled with a slight droop to his demeanor.

That small drop however, quickly perked right back up when his ears picked up the unmistakable sound the candy being fetched. With an anticipating grin, his golden eyes fixated upon the candies that were drawn out from behind the desk, gazing at the brightly colored edibles and trying hard not to salivate. "Alright! Hahahaha~" he cheered, reaching out to recieve them. The forest would be fine with him- he rather liked the forest, where he could run and play in the trees, not to mention the delicious things there. "Yeah! I bet we can find the ice cream easy," Goku beamed, catching the sweets and opening up the bag to start on them right off the bat.

Gintoki couldn't help but simply laugh at the antics of the youngster, already feeling a lot better than he was earlier. Well, he was sure Toshirou - wherever he was - would be fine and nothing really much would happen now. After all, they had only started recovering from that recent war... the freelancer wasn't really much in his 'teacher mindset' right now; he was pretty much himself, but then again it was hardly different from the other, although the jumbled memories were a bit of a problem from time to time...

"Just make sure to be more careful, alright?" he chided gently as he watched the sweets being devoured in record time by the boy, "There's only so many times I can try and get you out of trouble now." If anything, Gintoki could guess that the other 'teachers' would be saying that the man was being far too lax on his students... but hay, this was always how he wanted to teach, and he would get his wish. Rules could go down the drain for all he cared. "Of course you're not - you're smart enough, especially with those pranks of yours, and you do fine enough, but it'd be better if you got more than just rather borderline passes now." And because I only make the tests simple enough. The other classes would get full marks if they took my tests, were the unspoken words, but those were best left unsaid now.

He continued to watch the monkey kid eating up the candy, still chuckling at little at the sight of the youngster. Really, the boy was just too adorable at times like these... not that he'd mention it, of course. The freelancer gave a small sigh as he got up from his seat, grabbing another bag of candy and tucking it into his side pocket as he headed towards the door, ready to leave. "C'mon now kid; you can finish up those sweets while we go and find that ice-cream tree, eh?"

"Y-yeah, I will... I'll hafta make myself more... uh.. inconspicuous? I think that was the word," Goku nodded to himself. "Gotta not get caught. I'll have to move like a... a... A ninja!" he grinned, stuffing candy into his mouth still, and somehow managing not to choke on it as he spoke through mouthfuls. "I guess I could get better grades, but.. I guess I just don't feel like it's worth it, or something. I just don't wanna," he shrugged. "Especially when it's like, really hard! Like math," he nodded.

The chibi-chimp watched Ginpachi stand, and scooched out from the desk to tag along after him. He noticed the other bag of candy, but was still working on the first. That would be fine though, since at this rate he would be done with them by the time they reached the ice cream tree. "A-ah, coming!" He called after Ginpachi, pushing the chair back in and grabbing his bag to haul over his shoulder. "Okay! ICe cream, here we come!" He cheered.

There was another laugh from Gintoki at the ninja comment, now distinctly reminded of Susumu - who was currently rather... under the weather. The man could only guess that he had been hit by the curse too. "Maybe so, but you still gotta put in some effort, at least to make your grades look better," he chuckled out quietly as he opened the door and exited the room, waiting for the monkey boy to come out before he closed the door and locked it securely (just to prevent anything from getting stolen).

Chuckling again, the natural perm only smiled and ruffled the kid's hair once more before he started to head out of the building, knowing that Goku would be following him anyway. Sometimes he swore that the kid only knew nothing but playing pranks and his stomach - kind of like Kagura in a way, only possibly less vicious (hopefully) and more... well, adorable. "Don't fall behind now, kid."

"Yeaaah... I guess so," the monkey sighed, resigned to his fate. Trotting along behind the older teacher, Goku sighed and pondered his fate as a student. Surely he couldn't be the worst student, at least- so maybe, if he did just a little better..

"Oi, Ginpachi-sensei?" The monkey toddled along after him as they left the school building, a few strides back at the most at any given time. "What kinda student were you? Did you suck as hardcore as I did?" They seemed to be, at times, birds of a feather; maybe Ginpachi had also been at this point? All the while, the boy stuffed more candy into his mouth.

(OOC: rofl, the 'less vicious' part made me cringe in irony 8D;;)

The man paused a little at the question, turning back to glance at the kid. Well, it was certain that Gintoki was no bright mind himself back in his days - he wasn't the worst, but he wasn't very capable in terms of studying either. Always he either copied off Katsura (Takasugi if he was lucky enough) or otherwise somehow managed to scrape through. Even until now, the man was rather surprised at how he had managed to pull through then...

"Eh..." he started off, unsure as to how to put it properly, "Well... I wasn't really very good at studying myself either - like you, I was always sleeping at the back of the class," he chuckled again at that, "I wasn't very motivated to study myself, but I did anyway because I had nothing else better to do, so..." the man shrugged a little, turning back and continuing to walk, "I only pretty much started to really study at the end, anyway."

[OOC: Ahahaha, yeah. AND TRILLIAN IS EPICALLY SCREWING UP ON ME, I DUNNO WHY BUT I CAN'T LOG ON NOW. TT______TT]

Goku 'hmm'd, "So in other words, you sucked as bad as I do?" Completely innocent in tone as blunt as his words were, the monkey pondered. "Well, if you were still able to become a teacher though after bein' like that, I guess I'm not so bad off after all?" He wondered aloud, and through mouthfuls of sweets. He apparently didn't realize the possibly-cruel impact of his words.

Now that they were out of the building and passing through the 'town', Goku began to glance every now and then at a passing bird or butterfly, or something along a road. Suddenly, he couldn't help but shake a strange sense of de ja vu, or a feeling like things were a bit off, but he pushed it aside, regarding it as just a random and spontaneous thought. At this point, he was already halfway through the bag of candy.

At those words, Gintoki completely froze in his tracks - and if anyone was seeing his face right now (he was hiding it from Goku, obviously), it would be dripping with cold sweat. Well... it was true that the former samurai did suck in his studies, but it really wasn't something he wanted anyone to know, really... "A-Ah, well... its all in the passion, kid. Its all in the passion. If you've got the drive and the will, then I'm sure you can, ahahaaha..." Gintoki tried to laugh the matter off, though he was sure it failed pretty badly as they started to walk again.

They walked through the so-called 'town', although Gintoki could easily see it was all but an illusion by the Hibou. Well, those owls certainly could really doing everything really well when the situation called for it... sighing and running a hand through his hair, the freelancer headed to the forest, where the promises of treats and things of all kinds alike awaited them. "Well now, time to search for that ice-cream tree now, eh?" he went with a grin as he turned to look at the youngster.

Along with that strange feeling of something being not-quite-right, Goku also got a strange feeling that the town looked different somehow- however he brushed that off as well and continued on after Ginpachi. "Ahhh, so you did suck huh? Well... drive, huh?" Goku stared at the ground as he walked in thought. "I guess.. I could try putting a little more into it.." He sighed, almost finished with the bag of candy. "Maybe if it was about something more fun, like candy!" the monkey gave a sagely nod and wadded up the empty candy bag, now trash. Apparently he missed the teacher's moment of awkward.

It looked like they were now heading closer towards the forest, and Goku nearly skipped along by Gin as they approached it. "Nooo problem! I can sens eout that tree, easy! Let's see, hummm..." The monkey sniffed at the air, the tail behind him twitching as he picked up many delicous scents. "...Awwww man it all smells so good," he drooled, staring at the trees just on the outskirts. "Hmmm, ice cream tree, ice cream tree..." He began to wander forward, to venture into the woods for the treats.

Gintoki could only do nothing but laugh rather nervously again, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. "Well... it doesn't hurt to try now, does it? Ahahaha..." Yes, he was feeling really awkward right now with these kind of questions. Granted, he wasn't the best but still... it was kind of embarrassing in the end when he was discussing about these sort of things. Then there was another chuckle at the next remark. "Well, I'm not too sure if classes can be as fun as candy now, kiddo..."

He smiled a little to himself at the sight of Goku skipping towards the forest, obviously drooling at the scent of the tasty treats. Gintoki laughed as he only gently tugged the kid by his monkey tail. "Now now Goku, control yourself or there'll be nothing left fo everyone else now," he said with great amusement as he went to keep the kid's endless hunger in check.

Goku trotted into the forest happily, weaving between the trees at first, before making a leap upwards. Catching onto a branch, he swung himself about it before leaping to the next tree, catching branches and swinging as he went- just like a monkey. Sniffing at the air again, he would occasionally switch directions, trying to find the right direction they should go in. "Hey, Ginpachi-sensei, does the ice cream tree have lotsa flavors? Are there other trees with more flavors?" he asked, his stomach growling in anticipation despite his having just demolished a bag of candy. "'cuz that would be so cool! Or maybe a toppings tree... I wonder if I could make a sundae?"

Looking back to the teacher, the monkey gave a grin, and then he got an idea as he continued hopping easily through the trees... Waiting til Ginpachi looked away for a moment, he suddenly vanished.

He watched as the monkey leaped onto the trees and couldn't help but chuckle a little yet again. Honestly, you would have expected no less... Gintoki scratched his head at the question, trying to summon up back his memories when he had been turned into a nine-year-old - that was the first and last time he had went to the tree after all. "Well, the tree I know has all sorts of flavors on them, but I guess there might be other trees with different ones too, you never know." Sieben was such an unexpected place, after all.

The man looked at Goku swinging in the canopy for a while more before he glanced sideways for a bit, wondering if Shiroi might be around... would make things all the more fun and entertaining, possibly. He smiled a little, turning back to call out to the kid - and then paused when he realized that the youngster was suddenly gone from his sight.

Quickly the man started to call out, hoping that he wasn't attacked by some wild beast. "Oy, kid! Come on now, wherever you are!"

For a moment or two the trees were silent, showing no signs of someone else following Gin any longer. Soon enough though there was a barely audible rustle in a tree just above his head, and from the tree all of a sudden leapt the monkey with an handful of fruits, landing himself on Gin's shoulders before pouncing off again into a tree just ahead. "Hahahah, fooled ya!" He grinned, some fruits dropping along the way in his haste, not being careful whatsoever. Using his tail to cling to the branches ahead, he gulped a few fruits down and waited for the teacher to catch up.

"Ooooh~ so they're all different, huh?" The monkey asked, sticking a peach in his mouth and finally leaving his hands free to swing through the trees. "Huh, I was wondering why some of these fruits tasted kinda funky. One o' those berries kinda tasted like an old shoe." He made a face, swinging ahead some more before waiting again. Suddenly, he perked up. "Ah! I smell 'em!" He grinned, looking around, before changing direction again. "I smell iiiiice creeeaaaaaaam~!" He sang running through the forest, hurrying ahead of Ginpachi.

Just as Gintoki started to really panic, he jumped a bit again as Goku came from above him, leaping from his shoulders and towards the trees again, fruits littering the forest grounds in his trail. The man laughed a bit as he started to chase after the hyperactive boy, wolf tail swishing a little in contentment. "Oy oy, wait up now for me kiddo..." he went with a smile as he caught up to the monkey boy, "I'm not as energetic as you are now, yanno."

He laughed again at what Goku said next, "Ahahaha... yeah, the fruits usually taste rather different, not really like how they should be..." best not to ask why was that, really - most likely due to the owls anyway. The man only started to chase after the kid again as the monkey boy ran towards the general direction (or at least as much as he could remember) of the ice-cream tree, calling aloud to him. "Hey, wait for me now, kiddo! The ice-cream won't run away any time soon now...!" Although despite himself, Gintoki was all smiles and sunshine as he went after the energetic child into the forest.

"Hahaha, Gin-sensei, you should catch up or you'll get left behind!" The monkey laughed, stopping momentarily to let Gin catch up a little again while hanging from a tree branch by his tail, snacking on a peach. "Mmm, this peach tastes like chicken!" The apeboy seemed very pleased at such a discovery, despite that msot people probably would have found that to be a less than satisfactory result. After snarfing down the peach and leaving the pit behind in the grass, the monkey continued swinging along until, lo and behold there sat the tree filled with the fruits of its labor- numerous, multi-flavored and colored ice cream cones, all ripe to be plucked out of the leafy branches. Goku came to a halt upon one such branch, looking at all the cones ready to be picked but seemingly unable to decide which one (or ones) to take. "Haha, found it! Lesse... hmmmm~"
