Bad Weekend

Well, the long weekend wasn't nearly as fun as I thought it would be. I met up w/ Dave and ended up sleeping over at his place. My mother was freaking out b/c she didn't know if I was still going to the family BBQ or not. As it also turns out, she also had one of her spells in the wee hours of the morning, called up our cousin stating that she didn't know what day it was. The cousin in turn totally freaked out and wanted her to go to the hospital, which my mother refused. I got home and had to hear the story from my mother's and cousin's POVs separately.

BBQ didn't start until 2 so we got there around 3. It started to rain around 3:30, so we headed inside. I sat with the cousins who drove us there while my mother went and socialized with our cousin-by-marriage's mother. They have become very good friends, so much so that they chat w/ each other at least once a week. It wasn't that bad being there until HE came. "HE" refers to my fourth cousin, Terrence. He was born w/ some type of blockage in his throat so he can't speak. But he can make sounds. All kind of not-so-amusing sounds. I also suspect that he is a bit developmentally delayed by the way he acts and interracts around people. Even people that he sees every day like his mother and grandparents. Well, he bypassed my other two cousins and ended up running right over to me. I really don't why since I was trying my damnedest to evoke a presence of not wanting him to come around me. Instead he attempts to crawl into my lap and be rocked like he's a baby. And since he's much smaller than I, I managed to catch him before he slid off. Then he was squirming and kicking like he wanted me to let him go back onto the floor. Well, we played that game for about 15 minutes and then I made some rather (in hindsight) impromptu comments that my cousins laughed at. Eventually his mother came in and took him away, much to my blessed gratefulness. If I liked her, I might say that I owed her one. But since a) I don't and b) the boy is her responsibility, I can ethically and legally nix that plan before it's incepted.

Well, Donny is bugging the holy hell out of me, which is not a good idea considering the day I've had. Nevertheless, we are going out to grab a bite to eat. He can talk about his usual uselessness and I can be a typical guy and pretend that I am listening and care.

(Yes, I know I am a pisser today, but considering I am considerate for most of the year I am granting myself this day of bitterness
