good day

I only got 5.5 hours of sleep last night since Asia, Art and I went to see the band Girls at Bottletree. It was a great show. The highlight of the evening occurred after the three of us witnessed a customer purchase a muffin from the bar, wrap it up in napkins, and then shove it in his pocket. In-between acts, Bottletree lowers a screen in front of the stage and displays their twitter feed. So of course Art twittered "Who the fuck buys a muffin at a bar and then puts it in his pocket? I see you muffin pocket!" So many people started talking about this comment that we decided to try and get a muffin pocket chant going. Art yelled "muffin" over the crowd, and Asia replied with "pocket". After a 20 second attempt at chant starting, they gave up. After a few seconds we heard a forlorn "Muffin!" from the back of the room and so we of course all yelled "Pocket!" back. This went on for a few seconds before another band started. After that band, the distant "Muffin!" man cried again and we responded again, this time starting the proper room chant. I have no idea if muffin pocket was still around at this point, but it was very entertaining non-the-less.

Work today was good. I watched 8 training videos and then read and signed off on about 500 pages of protocols, memos, and safety guidelines. I now have the largest binder I've ever seen sitting on my desk with my initials on every 10th page or so. I finished all of this about 2:30 and started training on the HPLC for the remaining 2 hours of the day. There is so much paperwork. Basically a page to fill out for every step you take. But I'm okay with that. They have great equipment, great people, and great pay. All the people I will work with on a daily basis are in their 20's and 30's. They all seem very nice. Everyone takes a morning break together for about 20 min, and then 2 hours later they all take a lunch break together. I think I'll fit in well.

I keep getting emails and calls from other places about jobs. It's getting ridiculous. Is this cosmic rule in place so that you get the job you should be working in and all the other not so great jobs that you would have broken down and accepted are eliminated as a choice for you? Not really complaining. It's just insane. 3 days since I officially accepted the Avanti job and as of this afternoon I'm up to 9 interview offers.
