lardons

i was hoping to use this entry to tell some stories about our trip but it seems very overwhelming at the moment. perhaps these stories are best saved for oratory. furthermore, kristyn is quite gifted at story telling so she will no doubt be more exciting at relating our shared experiences. all i will say is that paris is not my cup of tea. too many people, cars, tourists and not a single affordable thing, with the exception of wine which i do not drink.

i spent a couple hours today trying to catch up on livejournal. i feel as though i know a bit of what i have missed. internet access in paris was a bit of a luxury... our neighbourhood was charging 7 euros per hour... with the exchange rate that is $10.39. later we found some cheaper sweat dens for 2 euros/hr but that was on our last day there.

the bright side of paris was our apartment. it was fucking gorgeous and in a great (albeit pricey) neighbourhood. it had a full kitchen so we could shop and cook for ourselves, partly to save money and partly because everything in paris had either ham or bacon in it. we found a few places that offered a "vegetarian salad"... for anywhere between $15-$20... (can we see now why a second job is in order?) my one source of discomfort about the apartment was the open concept bathroom. the bathtub was big and nice but the toilet was separated from the rest of the one room apartment by a curtain... i suddenly felt a greater appreciation for doors and privacy.

paris also shuts down at about 1 a.m. so we found ourselves chugging our beers and getting kicked out of most places. the one night paris was alive and happening was our last night there, the night we had to go to bed early to make our flight the next morning.

i look forward to seeing y'all perhaps this weekend.
