Just thought I should elaborate on the latest dream that has me mad at Jeremy...
In my dream there were 2 stink bugs or shield bugs - at least that's what I was calling them. But they were a lot bigger - they were the size of Charlotte's Happy Meal toy bug, 4-5 inches long (it's such a cool toy!). Anyway, I was in Charlotte's room, about to go to bed in her bed (I don't know why) and I called Jeremy in to get rid of the bugs that were on the floor. The crazy man picks them up and puts them in the bed! I express my displeasure and he says, "They have to get used to us." What?! Next thing I know there are 5 of them and then I get the vacuum cleaner to get rid of them and can't find them anymore. So. Mad. Then yesterday (the day after the dream) he comes up to me outside and says, "Did you ever see an ant this big?" and no, becuase YUCK. He'd already forgotten about my dream - don't show me bugs when I'm mad at you about bugs. Hmph.
This weekend was pretty good, in that I was not at home for a lot of it. Saw Spring Awakening on Saturday with my mother...not exactly a family-friendly show, but it was very good. Great performances, just not terribly upbeat. There's a song called "There's a moment you know when you're fucked" and mom referred to it later as "that song that got the most applause." :-D Went out yesterday with Julie and Brian - saw Year One (WHY when there are movies like The Hangover and Up that friends are raving about, do we all lower ourselves to Jeremy's baser instincts? Probably because J & B had already seen those other movies, but still...) and had dinner at Ted's Montana Grill (was good and had a salad with barbecue chicken, then ruined it with a big dessert). Got home early - about 8:30 (told mom she should put Jessica to bed but not worry about Charlotte) to find mom walking a not-thrilled Jessica who wouldn't go to sleep for her. Awww. :) Kiddo was a peach for me, so that's fine. And then there was Charlotte, with her inkpad-stained hands who wouldn't cop to having put handprints on our bathroom door. Our unfinished wood bathroom door, which means the ink sunk into the grain and, well, we now have handprints on our bathroom door. Mom felt bad about that, but hey, the house was still standing and we got to go out, so no worries. Also got to the little wading pool twice this weekend. Charlotte is just the queen of the pool now - I can't believe how she can just step out of it now like it's nothing. She started going when she was probably 15 months old, when the water in the center of the pool was almost chest high. She's HUGE now!
And dad is *still* in the hospital. It was a week in the ICU and now it's been a week in telemetry. At least Charlotte got to visit last week, even if she didn't give him the big hug she wanted to. The pneumonia and resulting difficulties have been blamed on my parents' cat Odie - the pasteurella bacteria which is common to cats was the culprit. Apparently dad has a weakened immune system from just being him (probably mostly related to the radiation for prostate cancer last yer) and couldn't shake off a dose of cat saliva like a normal person would have been able to. So after taking a liter and a half out of his left lung, the lung is re-filling. A thoracic surgeon has been in to see him, so we're not really sure what's next. I'm guessing I'll be involving LHE a bit in this if it comes to thoracic surgery. :(
What else...been so long since I bothered typing anything out. And I can't find (read: haven't looked for) Jessica's baby book, so I should be at least writing about her here. She rolled over around 5 months and is very good at it now (just hit 7 months). She sits up decently, but still wobbles with a tendancy to fall. Um. Goes to bed fabulously - we fight over who gets to put her to bed because Charlotte's such a bear. And when she wakes up, usually around 6-7 am, one can feed her and put her in her swing for about 2 more hours. Aaah. Started seriously on baby food while we were down the shore (May 30 - June 6). She was very good there, too. When in doubt, give her a bottle. We went to the Cape May Zoo, Storybook Land (Charlotte rode the roller coaster with me 3 times!), Wildwood (in the rain one night, not very nice, but we played in an arcade and Charlotte got candy, so it was a success), the children's museum (good for a rainy day), and the beach (only got down there one day to hang out, but it was nice - Charlotte loved being buried in the sand). Biked on the boardwalk once (my bike seat was torcha, but I have a new one now), did a lot of walking and eating of fudge. Had a decent meal at Yesterday's, on the advice of a friend from high school (more of an acquaintance back then, but we're friends on fb so I asked for recommendations for food and activities - didn't get to do much, but I'll definitely save that list). Another place she suggested was Dino's and we went there twice - took my parents the second time, on Jeremy's birthday. So. Good. But Charotte took a tumble there the first time - she was marching / running up and down the wheelchair ramp and finally gravity caught up and threw her down on her bare knees. There was a kid watching from the window and you just know his dad was all like "THAT'S why you don't do that." So glad we could set an example. One of the best moments was one lunchtime - gave Charlotte her sammich (a piece of bread with mustard and mayo, two slices of baloney on the side) and sent her out to sit on the porch. She came back in for something and then started sceaming bloody murder. Jeremy thought she'd lost an arm, I thought she'd been stung by a bee. Nope. She was pointing out the window at the seagull on the table eating her baloney. *LAUGH* Can't wait for next year when Jessica will be all cute and toddling around. Our neighbors were kind of sucky - they were up early and had loud arguments...I think they lived and worked there. Someone kept honking a horn at about 7:30 am, I guess picking someone else up for work. I might look into other places next year, but the price and location are right and the condo is perfect with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Oh, MIL used dishwashing liquid instead of dishwasher detergent in the dishwasher the last night. What a mound of bubbles in the kitchen. *sigh* But we got our security deposit back, so all is well. :-)
We had Jessica's baptism on June 7th. It was our new pastor's first baptism (my nephew Andrew was the first for our previous pastor), and she's not technically ordained yet. Had special permission from the bishop to perform the baptism and communion that day. Everyone seemed to have a good time back at my parents' house and the deli trays and cake from Giant were most tasty. The invitations were regrets only for lunch and we never heard from Janis, but then she never showed up. We had a few hang ups on our answering machine and I think I had one on my cell phone, too, but no way of knowing if they were her. Keep meaning to email her. Maybe I should do that now...done! Whew.
Right, should get some work done today. Glad I finally got back to lj. :-)
