mm-rares letter

Dear mm-rares writer:

Thank you for doing this exchange! I hope you have a great time working on whatever you write. It's been a while since I was doing fests, so I'm not really up on what people expect from these letters, but I'll try to give you some helpful details on each of the requests in my sign-up, and if you have any questions please feel free to hit me up anon.

Request 1: Star Wars (Original Trilogy), Luke/Biggs or Luke/Lando

- I'm gonna let you in on a secret, I like Luke Skywalker, I really like that gay Jedi and I like his boyfriend Biggs. Sad canon-compliant things are cool. Sweet pre-canon things are cool. Biggs Lives Canon-Divergent AUs are SUPER COOL. This is a tiny ship and I feel like all of us sailing this little ship have a very personal attachment to it, so most of all I hope you write something you enjoy writing. I'm fine with whatever level of sexytimes or none at all (this goes for the requests across the board, actually).

- I've only recently been introduced to the magic of Luke/Lando, but once I saw it, I was totally sold. We see surprisingly little of them together in the films--which is probably why so few of us saw the light before running into that amazing ESB gifset--so it's something that can really be approached from so many angles. Personally when I think of Lando, I think of politics, and what he might have wound up doing with himself after RotJ. How does Luke figure into that? Do they have different ideas about the post-war future? Where's Lando during TFA and what impact has Luke had on his life?

Request 2: Law & Order: SVU, Rafael Barba/Nick Amaro

Like I said on tumblr:

Still endgame imo, who cares if Amaro’s technically “not on the show anymore” or whatever. The tyranny of canon holds no sway in these walls. Nick comes back? Nick never leaves? Action takes place a couple seasons ago? Rafael has to go to LA for some goddamn reason? Whole show is transplanted to a vintage noir AU? Sure. (Seriously though, not-the-canon-universe AUs mostly aren't my bag but I would extremely make an exception for that one.)

Content-wise, considering what kind of show this is -- I have no problem with canon-typical storylines if you want to do case fic, I know this isn't Law & Order: Helping Kittens Out Of Trees Unit. But I'd like to avoid graphic descriptions of sexual abuse or other kinds of violence, even if those crimes are elements of the plot.

Request 3: Kentucky Route Zero, Donald/Joseph

This is my "wait what this is actually on the list whaaaat I have to request that" pick. It's very unlikely we matched on KRZ, but if we did, listen, I already like whatever you're going to write.

I think something epistolary would be cool with these characters--we already have that one email from Donald to Joseph, maybe we could see more communication between them, or something illuminating their relationship indirectly. A look at Joseph's game about the Xanadu project? This being KRZ, I feel like something that experiments with form in some way would be cool. I'm also a theater nerd, so anything that touches on the theater-related aspects of KRZ would be catnip to me.

Request 4: Star Wars, Poe Dameron/Luke Skywalker

I know, I did Star Wars twice, it was two different categories on the thing.

Okay, so listen, my only thing I want to be clear about with Poe/Luke, because in canon they probably knew each other when Poe was growing up, is that I am interested in this relationship as a relationship between adults originating in adulthood presumably sometime after the events of TFA, although if you have some idea of how to wedge (heh) a Luke/Poe story into the time frame where Poe is a grownup and Luke hasn't disappeared yet, hey, go for it.

I like Star Wars lore, I like stuff from the comic books, I like cool old Jedi relics, I like bonding over flying. I just like these two and I think each of them could be very much what the other doesn't know he needs.

OK! Thank you again, secret buddy, and I'll see you on the other side.
