[Thunder is heard faintly in the distance, a low but steady rumble of approaching stormclouds. Those who look to the sky might see those very clouds, slowly edging closer to the town, though they are still a ways off ( Read more... )

[Still in German; have a very frightened teenager.]

No...no way, this is not happening! There's no way that's real!

[Whimper.]

Aaron-kun - Aaron, what's going on?

[Because he can tell pretty easily it's nothing good.]

Those words...that...

[His voice drops to a hoarse, uncertain whisper.]

That poem is from a faerie tale back home...a story parents told their kids. My...my dad told it to me before when I was little.

[Aaand yep, he can put the rest together.]

What do we need to know about it?

The story was basically...it was about a figure who would come and take away the sick or ailing. Like a Grim Reaper of sorts. I remember one version my dad told me...

[He takes a shaky breath.]

A father and son are traveling home through the dark forest together, but...but the boy can see and hear things his father can't. He keeps calling to his father that he is being attacked, but his father can't see or hear it, and by the time he makes it home and turns to face his son...the boy is dead.

It's the sort of legend that changes fromplace to place. Some say he was a creature created by the forest's'desire' and others say he is a grim reaper come for the people who are about to die...but...but he always terrified me

[He frowns thoughtfully, partially because of the idea itself, that this 'Grim Reaper' might be here, and partially because something about a dad telling his son this story seems a little...

Well, he's not going to pry about that, especially if there's potentially another threat showing up.

It crosses his mind that if the thing only comes for the sick, they might be safe, unless people take ill. But the story contradicts that a bit, at first glance, at least, and he can't take chances. Not with people who might get hurt. Not with Nanako here.]

Is there anything about how to stop him?

[Any stories about Aaron's familiar relations are definitely for another time and place. As it is he takes a few moments to calm himself down before responding.]

Not that I know of. The rowan crown we were all given is a good way to fend them off, that and iron...some fae can't cross running water but I think he can...so it's kind of a grab bag of sorts...
