Gird Your Loins!

I was told twice today, by completely different sources at completely different times to gird my loins. And, as much as I love the phrase, I am curious and a little scared as to why my loins need girding...

well, whatever it is, I'm on my guard now, so, if need be, my loins will be carefully girded.

I suggest you do the same.
