The BeeGees are punk because even in a generation full of disco they were different.

In an era full of hippy John Denver lethargic drug post-rock music, we get these fsckers who popularize and transform a decade-long genre?

I posit that one of those crazy dudes decided to say "fuck it", sing in falsetto (previously the purview of the vienna boys choir) and cover up their weird singing crap with a style completely different than any of the period jazz, blues, rap (yes, it existed, barely, back then) or chunky guitar rock.

They sounded about as fake-tacular as you can get, and wrote music that was apparently about getting off of your nature-centric drugged up ass and doing SOMETHING. (dancing in this case, being that it was disco).

All this in a crapped out era of couch-sitting aging hippie post-vietnam drug users struggling to retain their folk potency. Oh crap! A generation has nothing to be angry about once their paradigm changed.

The Bee-Gees are so out of the freaking box that they can't possibly be a record company construction.

Punk breaks everything it can related to the generation that came before it...

...and when it succeeds... it becomes a stereotype...

Here's a chord, here's another chord, here's a third...form a band.

yeah?

Here's a bassline...here's a drumbeat.....
