Irony, eh? Mom and I had an appointment yesterday afternoon to go look at the Day Ave. house.....I found out about probably losing my job in the morning.
I'm in love with that house, and if you don't buy it, I will!!! :-)
Well, actually, I won't.... but I'm wondering if that house has had only one or two owners, since so much of the original fixtures are still in place.
Love the lighting, love the archways, love the kitchen, love the laundry chute, love the cabinets, love the built-ins....
I love old houses, by the way.
I would guess the toilets are either (1) original, or (2) reproductions bought to keep the period look to the house...
Our house in Royal Oak, MI had the same doorknobs, and the laundry chute, and the wood flooring, and the wide woodwork, and the built-ins, and the light fixtures, and the secret attic door, and the tall attic, and the root cellar.
Every root cellar I've seen tends toward dankness. Not always a bad thing, to have a touch of humidity in a functional and used root cellar. I wish I had one in this house...
Oh, and the ceiling thing is an attic fan -- great way to cool off the house after dark in the summertime without using A/C...
Gosh, I miss my old Royal Oak house....... It was built in 1920. Some day I'll post pics from it, but I don't think I have any that are digitized at the moment.
Hope the job thing ends up more positive than you fear... This would be a lovely house for you, I think! *hugs*
