[oo1] Welcome to the Collective Imagination

May 15, 2009 05:40

[The first thing you'll notice upon your arrival, aside from the immediate strangeness of the surroundings, is a long table--it looks like someone's prepared for a conference, though a very small one. Of course, all appearances of professionalism disappear upon seeing--well--a unicorn (or is it a Pegasus? It's purple, it has wings, it has cat paws ( Read more... )

[Caution and uncertainty are plain on his features, with a healthy dose of suspicion as he looks around. Conference table, okay... Strangers, sure, why not? ...is that some kind of bijuu over there? ...oh dear gods... please don't tell him that's Gai-sensei over there, sparkling at someone with equally horrid fashion sense...]

[The sign catches his eye.] ...information on what...? [Of course that comment was directed more to himself. That was beside the point.]

[Eyebrow raise, at both the comment and the eyes.] And the "Collective Imagination" is what, exactly?

This place. Specifically, where all imagination comes together.

Something like that sounds more like it would be an abstract concept, rather than a physical reality...

And yet, here we are. [He gestures to the strangeness that is "here".]

Mmmmh. [He looks thoughtful for a moment.] And where, pray tell, is "here"? [Yep. Neji has all the hard questions that have simple, vague answers.]

"Here" is the Collective Imagination. [He smiles a little, amused and surprisingly patient even with the need for reiteration.]

I thought that was the "what," not the "where". [He's thoughtful again, considering how to rephrase his question.] Where is "here" in relation to, say, Konoha or Suna?

What and where are the same thing, here.

[He simply shrugs a little, before offering the only sensible answer--being completely honest in this case apparently means being unintentionally cryptic and/or poetic.] It's as close as a daydream, and as far as your mind can wander.

I see... [He finds this hard to believe, in a way. Ninjas, though often adept in the use of genjutsu, tend to be more firmly rooted in the reality of "This I can touch, and I know how it feels; that I can stab and it will most certainly bleed."]

So it's a very subjective "here"? [Not that it makes any sense to him, but that's what he's taking it as.]

Pretty much. [Sense or not, you've got it about right.]

So then, why am I here? [He has missions to complete, you know.]

Novelty, or company, for us. [Mostly for the others, really.]

whitetempest May 17 2009, 23:46:14 UTC
...so I'm here on your whim, for amusement and companionship? [He'd cry shenanigans, but...] Do I get any say in this?

Pretty much. [Donovance shrugs.] You get a say in when you go home, but not entirely in when you come back.
