Its the day after warped tour and it has been an awesome weekend. to start off, we got a late start (not surprising) but we got there around 2PM. It was scaled down this year and there was definitely less people than in years past, but it was a nice sized crowd. Basically the only difference was that they dropped one stage and had less bands. Instead of having more mainstage bands, they paired up lesser known bands playing in between the main stage acts. Its a cool idea because alot of the time the smaller bands do not get the exposure they could because most of the people are spending their time down at the bottom of the hill. We ended up leaving the earliest we ever had but we got to see some great bands.
The first band we saw was You Me At Six-a pop-punk band from the UK. They were really good. We didn't get the CD but they are coming back in November or something with Set Your Goals so we will get it then.
Actually the first band we saw was Underoath. They were kick ass...we ended up chilling out most of the day and wandering around checking out the merch and people watching.
Scary Kids Scaring Kids played on the Hurley stage and so did Bayside. I've seen Bayside at the Showbox before so we didn't spend too much time watching them but they were really good. SKSK were pretty good but they played on the wrong stage in my opinion. there were a ton of people watching / moshing and they really should of been on the mainstage. I would really like to see them in a club show.
We then meandered down to the mainstage again and watched Bad Religion. Like I said earlier we really just chilled most of the day so I didn't go into pit for them but it was a good show. They played a ton of old skool songs: I Want to Conquer the World, ...this is Hell, Generator, 21rst Century Digital Boy, American Jesus...along with some newer ones like Sorrow, and New Dark Ages. I've seen them a ton of times, so it was cool just watching them.
After that we didn't really have any in particular to watch so we decided to just walk around for an hour...and the band playing after them were aweful. SO we somehow stumbled onto this Sublime-style ska band called Echo Movement. they were good and a great band to just chill out to. So we picked up their CD.
We ended the day with Less Than Jake. There wasn't as many people down there as in years past but dude....it was f'in awesome! THey busted out some older songs from Losing Streak like "Doug Hasting, How's My Driving?," "Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts" and "Automatic." They also played some from Anthem and Hello Rockview (Last One Out of Liberty City, Nervous In the Alley, All My Best Friends are Metalheads-Hello Rockview; the Science of Selling Yourself Short, Plastic Cup Politics, Look What Happened-Anthem).
I must be outta shape because I was dead after that and grabbed myself a headache. Yeah it was a good day...I hafta play Password so I will fill in the rest later.
