I have a huge headache this morning and I don't feel like parenting. Someone else come do it. My kids aren't even being bad...they're just being kids. Tyler starts school on Monday and we're both looking forward to it but for very different reasons. I went to bed late last night (fucking addictive logic puzzles) and DJ called and woke me up early this morning. I had just drifted back to sleep when my mom called and soon after that, I heard Wyatt wake up and start jibber-jabbering to the bunnies outside his window.
We had phone issues this week. Everything was fine on Wednesday--I was online, talked to DJ before I went to bed, peachy keen. Thursday morning, I wake up and after doing my morning routine, I sat down to get online. My computer says that there's no dial tone. What? I pick up the phone...it's silent. It was just like when my phone line was cut. DJ wasn't even home, there was no way my phone line had been cut. I knew that DJ would be home that evening so I didn't even worry about going anywhere to call the phone company and report it. I had to go to town on Friday so I figured that I would just do it then. So around 7 pm, my friend Laura came over. DJ had called her husband (his best friend) and asked if someone could go over to our house and check on me and the kids since I hadn't answered the phone all day. I told Laura what was going on and asked if they would call DJ back and let him know that it was an issue. After putting Leah to bed (and singing songs and reading books and getting 100 drinks of water), Tyler and I sat down to watch the last episode of the first season of Survivor and DJ finally came home. He was my hero--he had called the phone company and dealt with them. They said they wouldn't be able to fix the problem (whatever the fuck it was) until Wednesday. I was immediately outraged but there was really little I could do about it. So last night, I was sitting on the couch with Tyler, watching Survivor, folding a ginormous basket of laundry when the phone rang once. I ran over and picked it up but there was no one there. But there WAS a dial tone. I called DJ and he said he'd call me right back. Basically I could call out, but no one could call in. A step in the right direction! So, my hero again, called the phone company back and they fixed the problem through their computer or whatever and we have service once more! Yay!!
