[biz, phreaking, nts] Verizon's Bait-and-Switch, and satisfactory resolution

Jan 25, 2013 20:24

I signed up for a fresh landline in my home for my business fax machine. I did this in December (last month). I got a welcome letter dated 12/27/12 from Verizon, saying "Enjoy your new service", and itemizing the options I had signed up for, and rates I'd be charged for them.

Caller ID, as I had been quoted when I first talked to them for a quote, was listed at $9.50.

Today, I received a bill for one month, with Caller ID at $10.50.

I called Verizon. Their service people said, "Yeah, it's $10.50 in our computers". I explained "Bait and Switch". Finally, the nice and helpful one volunteered to credit me $24 to cover the difference over the next 2 years, with the understanding that my bill will continue to reflect the $10.50.

I'm writing this here as much to help me remember in a month (and a quarter, and a year, and two years) that I need to not call Verizon and give them hell (next month, next quarter, next year, etc) about Caller ID being $10.50 so long as I actually do get credited $24 to my account.
