Is there something about eating apples that would make a cow no longer give milk? Perhaps fermented windfall apples?
I'm actually trying to make sense of a literary reference. The literature in question (to which I'd rather not point to up front) was written by someone who had occasion to know a thing or two about cows. And I'm trying to assess how figuratively he's speaking. So the question comes down to, does eating apples (specifically windfalls) actually make cow's udders dry up?
