Big update and such...

I've been keeping myself busy of late. School has been going well. My life has been kind of boring of late, but that's okay. I kind of like it really. Being on a specific schedule is kind of nice.

I've been lonely of late as well, but again, that's okay.

I don't know if I mentioned it in here before, but Adrian and Michelle are getting married. I'm happy for them. I hope I find someone as cool as Michelle. Adrian is a lucky guy. Then again, Adrian is a great guy as well, and Michelle is lucky to have him as well.

Kevin came down last weekend. It was nice to see him, even if it was for a short time. It's tough to see friends and hang out right now, since I'm so goddamned broke. It's my own fault, but still...

I got my new computer last Friday as well, and what was the first thing I did with it? Install World of Warcraft. I've been enjoying it very much. If you happen to play as well, I'm on the Bloodhoof server, and my name is Renganza (Spanish for Revenge). I'm a level 13 Tauren Druid.

Also, I recently got to bring home the demo for Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. It's a fighting game based (obviously) in the Marvel Universe. A bunch of super heros (Spider Man, Wolverine, Daredevil, The Thing, etc.) and some villians (Magneto, Elektra, etc.) are fighting off some real bad dudes (The Imperfects). If anyone played Powerstone for the Dreamcast (one of my favorite games for it), then you'll quickly get the hang of it. Full 3-D environments that can be destroyed. The demo only allows you to play as either Spider Man, who is very fast, and has some really nice ranged attacks, or Johnny Ohm, a Frankenstein looking character, with the ability to use electricity (ohm... get it?). Both seem to be pretty well balanced, and the way the actual matches are set up are pretty interesting. You're given a set amount of time, and have to try and knock out your opponent as many times as you can. So, at the end of the time, the score might be 1-0, or 5-4... so, it's all about how defensive or offensive you want to play it. It's nice to see that companies are finally getting super hero games right. Spider man is all over the place in the game, web slinging all around the stage (the only one in the demo is the top of the Daily Bugle. If you couldn't tell, I'm excited about this game. Lots more than when I hadn't played the game this afternoon.

Go see Wedding Crashers. I laughed my ass off. Sunny times.

Also, play Amplitude. More sunny times.

It's nice to go to work, and actually enjoy talking about what is out and the like. I've never really been able to do that before. Well, the theater was nice, but there wasn't a lot of time to talk to people about what they were going to see, and I couldn't discuss said film because they hadn't seen it yet. And the book store was cool, but we didn't have many of the books that I read. GameStop? I get to talk about something I love for 4-6 hours a day. It's cool. Plus, we're asked to try and get people to subscribe to Game Informer and reserve games. I do both of these, so I don't feel like a shit head when I do it.

Once I save up some money, I'm going to buy a beat maker for my PC.

Stuff I'm listening to of late:
Sleep - Christopher
Aesop Rock - Labor Days
System of a Down - Mesmerize
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Atmosphere - Godlovesugly
Grayskul - Dead Livers
Sage Francis - Personal Journals

It sucks; I haven't really been able to find much rock that really interests me of late. I just find it disappointing that I can't find much outside of Indie Hip Hop that interests me musically right now. I mean, I like the new rock albums I've gotten this year. But Indie Hip Hop is just so much more fresh and raw to me. Most modern rock sucks though. Kevin and I were talking about who is the best band out there right now, and I couldn't even really choose one. He chose Radiohead, but I couldn't agree with that since I don't like listening to blips and bloops (just kidding... or am I?). The Smashing Pumpkins have broken up. Tool puts out an album every six years. Dave Matthews Band just put out a stinker. The Counting Crows have been on the decline ever since their first album. I love the White Stripes, but I don't know if I could say they're the best band around right now. And what about older bands? Aerosmith rocked while they were still on drugs, but have only put out one good album over the past ten years (it's hard for me to consider their last album, only because it's an album full of covers). Rush hasn't done anything good in a while. Pink FLoyd only gets together to do charity events and stuff. Greenday has put out two great albums, and the rest has been kind of mediocre. Bands like Beck and Ween are all over the place. I'm really just more impressed with Indie Hip Hop. Lyrically, it's brilliant (it has to be for me to listen to it), and the production on it is so much better than the mainstream garbage that populates MTV and the like. There are more influences in their music than in most of anything people are making today. Aesop Rock is obviously influenced by everything from Jazz, to the Blues, to Rock, to late 80's hip hop, to electonic, and somehow consistently pulls off amazing songs and albums. What are the influences that --insert random modern rock band here-- has? 90's rock? When you're being influenced by bands around you, and don't take anything from the past, then you're not learning. You have to understand where your influences come from to udnerstand how to evolve music. Then again, music has deevolved more than anything, where bands that actually have talent are being produced to death, told how to play, told not to show off their talent, which is annoying.

Enough of that rant.

I'm sorry if I haven't talked to many of you of late. For that I apologize. I've been a little antisocial of late, and I have been busy. Believe me, it is nothing personal. I hope you all are doing well. Hopefully, I can talk to you soon.
